You do realise there are actually 4 candidates for the phrase Buckley's and although it is the most popular, only one of them relates to William Buckley.
Here are the other 3 for your future reference:
From Buckley's and None, presuming that expression derives from a Melbourne department store, Buckley & Nunn.
A reference to Mr Buckley of the Bombala region of southern New South Wales, who sued the government over title to land, the action seeming to have little prospect of success.
A reference to Mars Buckley, in relation to an 1893 run on banks, when Buckley ensured that the Bank of Australasia would have no chance of using his money to pay other depositors. The bank thus had “Buckley′s chance” of getting his money. This is arguably the more likely since the phrase was first cited three years after this incident.

Oh and I agree that we don't currently have any players that would be able to get the mega-sized TPA's that Slater, Thaiday and co have enjoyed.
I thought it was a reference to Graham Buckley and St Georges quest for a title.

Also that article states that they have released both 2017 and 2018 TPA figures right? But where are the 2018 figures?

Those are the 2018 figures. The 2017 figures are indicated by the position of the little box saying ‘2017’.

I hardly think that Fifita would be a sponsors cup of tea, but anyway. That's right, you finally hit it on the head. So the real issue isn't that we can't attract TPA's because we are on the nose with corporates per se, but the issue lies in we have sucked at recruitment since BS left. Especially when you consider each and everyone of those players that you have listed were all originally from the west and basically in our own backyard.

I'm sure if we had the foresight and quality in recruitment it would of been an attraction over Cronulla to sign with us and not disrupt yourself and or family with a move over to the Shire. But anyway lets hope that out new HoF can do a much better job then the last guy.
You say we suck at recruitment yet we signed a bloke with a supposedly legit TPA in Michael Jennings.

TPAs currently in the NRL are the rich person equivalent of hiring a stripper. Now that Turdston and Billy the Cat are gone, can anyone name a player they’ve legitimately seen advertising for something?

Yeh, well they f**ken should've labelled them with something clearer, like 'this is the 2017 level f**kwits, and the Eels didn't have many in that year either after the NRL initially put all of their TPAs on-cap after the 2016 f**k-up'.

Derp. Winning is the currency of the NRL.

The Sharks are the latest to be pinged for fake invoices.

Even For successful teams, its hard for local businesses to throw money down the drain with TPAs. Very little corporate exposure for the cash offers a poor return for the marketing dollar. Other than a cashed up one eyed supporter, why would you ? For the scoreboard announcement introducing Tim Manah “sponsored by Con’s Fish Shop Toongabbie” ?

I gt to fast fish in Annandale
