Klemmer didn't get paid his "third party" money - he got upset he wasn't getting what his employer said he would .... the dogs are in a rebuild - cutting $s off the cap helps them .... his exit proceeded from there

Napa obviously has some substantial baggage - would seem the roosters have been looking to oofload him for some time

Both cases - the club was keen to let the players go

Penrith wasn't keen to let Peachy go but off he went. Most clubs eventually give in and release players. Same with Milford and Barba to Broncos, although funny how quickly Barba's father recovered after Broncos didn't want him.

These are clubs either desperate to pay overs or able to pay massive amounts outside the cap. In every case the player's current club would be unwilling or unable to match the rival offer.

Lomax doesn't fall into this category. Or at least, I hope we wouldn't offer stupid money for an outside back. You'll notice no NRL club poached Radradra off us. We also didn't give him an early release to go to France, despite his agent grumbling and the player himself f**king us around with late returns from Fiji.

Bullshit.
Klemmer just turned 25. He would be perfect to structure this re build around.
Graheme,Eastwood amd the Morris boys where not part of a re build.

The 3 guys they should of built around was Klemmer,Jackson,Mbye. I doubt they saving a whole lot by losing Klemmer and buying Nappa. Sounded like a knee jerk reaction to keep fans happy.

As great as Semi was with him, Hayne,Norman and KE around there was always some sort of drama.
Imagine being their team mates. We have cleared out a lot of trouble i reckon. Most the squad now is clean with good attitudes .

I agree with you there Hindy, but the issue IMO is that’s a fair bit of talent we’ve lost and whilst we’ve replaced them with better attitudes, at least on paper I think we have a weaker roster than last year when we won the spoon.

I reckon we need one or two more quality (even elite) signings to even consider finals.

Do you think we won the spoon because of lack of talent? In most people’s opinions many of our players had career worst seasons. That points to disharmony and other factors than lack of talent.

Some idiots have convinced themselves that Michael Jennings is no longer a first grader ffs

Well he was on a shitload and i believe he had a falling out over the money issue .... point is, there was something in it for both sides

Wtf is in it for StG to just let a cheap up and coming back go?

Wasnt peachy off contract, so signed at titans? ..... milford was made to see out his canberra contract .... barba was a dickhead with off field issues - club had a reason to let him leave

Hayne,Scott and Norman are gone. Ferguson, Jnr and Lane are in.
Of the 3 we lost only Hayne for 6 games made a difference. Norman and Scott didn't set bar high. The fact we have a heap of juniors who debut in 2018 and more for 2019 along with guys getting into peaks years, I'd take the 2019 squad.
How much impact was Stone,Mahoney,Salmon,Kafusi,Nikauore going to have ?
And I get feeling the best juniors havent debut yet but will this season. I reckon Stefano,Brown,Parry will have good futures in the NRL.

Of course he was. Peachy was off contract and IIRC signed with the Tits 12 months out. The negotiations were about Peachy trying to get out of the Tits deal. According to Gus on his podcast, the Tits wanted James Maloney or no deal. Gus said that Maloney was not for sale. Peachy goes to QLD with his tail between his legs. FFS @Glenneel is making shit up on the fly.

You left out Edwards but I take your point. I still think that as it stands on paper, the 2018 squad was stronger than our current squad.

I think a lack of genuine leadership had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately we’ve done little in regards to recruiting leadership this year AND there is less quality in the roster. We should have a better attitude this year and a stronger unit will help but this will only get us so far.

I agree about the lack of quality leadership. Someone needs to keep merkins like Moses in check, and encourage unity. But perhaps someone will emerge. Hopefully.

And offering a player like Wade Graham a million bucks is madness, if true. I'd rather get Josh Jackson, that's the type we need. And he'd be cheaper. Although obviously the dogs see his worth too.
Offering huge money to Wade Graham is concerning in my opinion. It reflects a continuation of the poor choices made prior. I was hoping The Review and our new HOF would put an end to such short sighted signings. Apparently its SNAFU.
