I agree, I also think we have leaders at club in Brown,Gutherson and Alvaro.
I dont like a new guy coming in to lead from day 1

He played NRL since 17. It is a long time. Different to guys who come into firsts at 21/22.
Why I think Manu still can have a few top years. He is 30 but was 25 when debut and has yet to play 100nrl games. His body should hold up till 34.

I always rated him and wanted at Parra. No hineysight at all in this one.

He debut as a 5/8. When Penrith didnt see him as one they did not have the thought of turning into a backrower .If only Duke was around.
I also recall not much interest in him at all. Sharks picked him up for around 130k.
Shows most coaches and clubs didnt rate him.

At the Eels Andrew Ryan also wasnt rated that high imo. Nor was Jason Cayless. I always was a big fan of Jason but Ryan I thought was average.
Ryans turned out to be one of the best we let go. By memory we kept I.Hindmarsh,Cayless and Vella first.

Who knows.....
He could of signed for us and copped 2 or 3 terrible injuries. Lets see how he comes back from his ACL at his age and being in NRL since age 17.

Things like this signing must be put into risk percentage. Lets say it turns sour what do we have? 10% of our cap on a guy who may offer nothing. Signings like Jnr are risky but at worse your still getting a big damaging prop at peak age with no i jury concerns.
Ferguson at 500k is low risk. At worse we get an above average winger.
Lane is no risk.
Graheme would be too risky for mine and glad we didnt get him.

He wouldn’t have had the leaders surrounding him that he had at the Sharks and is unlikely to have been as effective at Parra. Hard to turn around a team full of f**kwits unless you are a truly great leader and player.

Easy to look at what he has done over there and think that would have been his natural progression at Parra but I don’t see it that way.

And was inexperienced. Brian Smith teams were famous for lack of leadership too. That explains all the chokes. Cayless is not a good example.
