I just googled it. Didn't realise it was a thing. Pretty sure I've walked past there but have never gone in.

Also didn't realise until recently that the Wig and Pen packed it in. Shame but they must have struggled at ANU.

Wig and Pen went to shit anyway.

Watkins left and started Bentspoke, as mentioned. The beers were definitely not the same

It was the venue (and the lease conditions ) that was the problem. Lachie has also been looking for an excuse to retire for about 20 years.
That was what I read as well.

They offered something very different to Bentspoke (and most other places tbh). Real ale as opposed to craft beer.

NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg said of Walker: “The NRL stresses that we are making no judgement on his guilt or innocence. That is a matter for the courts.”

Greenberg added: “We cannot afford to ever have an off-season like this again. I would hope that the sanctions being handed down today will remind clubs and players that there are significant consequences for not complying with the standards and rules we set for our game.”

So.....there's no judgement on guilt or innocence, but.....the sanctions remind players that there significant consequences for not complying with the standards and rules we set for our game. In effect saying that the clubs and players have not complied with those standards and rules. How could this ever go wrong?

There's no way this could ever be used to further exploit someone.

They may as well have added a line to the players code of conduct "Do not come into contact with anyone outside of the NRL playing field"

Their whole communication strategy should have been around protecting the image of the game because that is what this no-fault policy is. The consequences for not complying with standards comes after a guilty verdict.

They have somehow managed to f**k this up in their incompetence and have merged the two together. They are absolute muppets at the NRL.

I am not sure if this has been covered but if a club gets salary cap allowance for a player stood down what happens if the player stood down get found not guilty. Does the player who replaced them not permitted to play or does the club get the advantage of having both players for the rest of the season.

Good question.
Do both their salaries count against the cap? Does the team get an extra spot in the top 30?

Do you mean the first time it happens? Or the second time, after they realize they f**ked up the first time? Or the third time, after they realize they also f**ked up the second time? Or the...

If I understand what is proposed then the Cowboys can get compensation to replace Scott Bolton. He is suspended for a specific period of time, so if they are able to replace him what happens after his suspension is over. Or does the compensation only relate to those players awaiting results by the Courts.

I haven't looked closely at it but I'd be pretty confident that it's only for players who are stood down before they go to court.

Its a good question ... crossed my mind too

I am assuming debelin is likely gone for the season ... how long does it take for such a case to play out? .... so it may not be an issuemwith him

Is this cap relief being applied to anyone else suspended?

What happens if found not guilty? He can sue the NRL for damages?
