I dont like it.
What happens if found not guilty? He can sue the NRL for damages?

This particular case, i don't know.......i am happy that he has been stood down. Not all cases are equal though i do agree.

I don't think i would have suspended Stewart, it was an odd case and there was some doubt about the victim.

This case though, he was there, regardless of the allegations he and another player took the girl and had sex with her, consensual or not. He had a partner (so he is a piece of shit anyways) and was there. He put himself in the position and the allegations are very serious......i don't think there is any choice but to stand him down in this case.

Innocent or not, i don't know how he could even focus with all the attention........

Why did they pick an 11 year sentence as the point at which they can stand a player down? Seems a strange number. Why not 10 or 12 or 15?

What damages? He’s still getting paid

Damages may exist in the impact of not playing for a year on his future value as a footballer, and (if found not guilty) he may also argue that the sanctions contribute to a reputational effect that also harms his ability to make $$$ after his contract expires. He may not win, but there's an argument there.

It’s a slim argument especially if he is found don’t guilty and continues to play NRL. Difficult to quantify the harm if indeed any

Could possibly quantify it by current contract compared to his next contract offers (which may be significantly less)

What if saints win the Comp and he isn’t part of it? Or $$$ he misses out on rep selection/possible sponsors??

It's not like the NRL is the only organisation that stands employees down while breaches of the code of conduct are investigated.

In fact I'd say it would be rarer to find a business that didn't

Does that make them untouchable? If he is stood down for an extended period, and found not guilty, it’ll be very interesting to say the least.

How could you quantify that against every other factor going into that next contract. He could argue missing rep selection because Fittler said incumbents would basically be picked but still there’s enough uncertainty to argue against that too

On the verge of signing Cameron McInnes from dragons.
Heard that on 7 news as I walked in the door from work... I'd be pretty happy with this. Of all the names mentioned so far, like Isaac Luke, Segeyaro, or Farah, McInness is the best option of the lot IMO... I presume they're talking for 2019...its awfully close to the start of the season to switch, but I guess that's the nature of the game these days....

Untouchable?

Well, is any organisation truly untouchable?

I'd suggest players who fall under potential code of conduct breaches would have very little recourse at the end of the day though.

The average employee doesn't have an expected career of 6.5 years in that job.

I reckon he would have, IF he was not guilty, a better chance suing his accuser. But even that’s a tough sell unless he’s definitely not guilty
