Plus the alleged victim went straight and got a rape kit, there was no waiting, there was no being convinced by friends. It wasn’t after they broke up like Semi. It was that night and they found bruising etc.

Could have been consensual and rough and then she regretted, i don’t know but the case is pretty serious and there was no time passed in reporting.

I get why they stood him down.
I read her friend told her to go to hospital .... which doesnt change anything

Again, i get and agree with your point of bias .... but that was when we all were of the belief the nrl was running a benefit of the doubt until your day in court thing ... no one here was asking for debelin to get stood down before the nrl backflip - they are more agreeing with it after it was done

They wouldn't have agreed with it if it happened to Semi. Imagine the outrage on here if the NRL put in the same rule a few weeks after Semi was charged. People got the shits and reckoned the NRL were treating him unfairly when they refused to select him for Australia in the 4 nations due to his arrest/charge. What would have happened if he wasn't allowed to play for us?

Agree, people would have gone off .... but i still this there is a range of people on here, so we get opposites opposing different things .... but yeah definitely some inconsistent bias too

If it was a parra player we would be hurling abuse at the NRL.
De Bellin career is shattered from this. Even if cleared he wont be the same emotionaly. The end.
He wont play origin x 100% so thats 100k. Gone,

And playing NRL is an even better sign, Drown makes me a little wet around the wee wee.
He's 19 this year (an impressive age to play NRL, especially for a halfback), so he played reserve grade the year he turned 18, which is also a very early milestone.

I reckon as far as it goes the NRL can make up whatever f**king rules they like, but, and it's a big but, the problem with this lot is that it's reactive and retrospective.

It's too late for them to avoid being reactive, but in doing so they should recognise that there is an element of injustice to apply a rule retrospectively.

For sure, set a rule that says if you do whatever, then bam , that's a paddlin' but from now on.

The rules that should apply to the JDB and Walker cases should be whatever policy they had in place at the time of the alleged offence. Not whatever policy they decide to make in the future.

I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain a contract that stipulates that if you do an action that causes a break in a clause of the contract, we will be free to make up whatever the f**k rule and punishment we like, would not pass muster if challenged.

.
There would have to be some blanket bringing-the-game-into-disrepute clause in every contract.

I said I thought he was probably guilty, and I still do. But I would've been pissed if he was stood down because he was one of our best players.

He is suspended on full pay. His trail date is late April, however it may push out until 2020.

I wonder if there would be same hysteria if a player was alledged to be involed on drug trafficking, bashing an old lady or armed robbery. Should these players be allowed to play if they are on bail awaiting trial ?

The NRL are protecting their brand and whilst it sucks having a player stood down, I reckon it’s fair enough.

BTW Zane Musgrave signed with the Bunnies but the NRL haved so far refused to register his contract. Source: Insiders @abc

Sure, but we also know that the NRL has changed both the definitions and the punishments for players accused ( not yet convicted ) now. We know this because they announced it a coupla days ago?

Have they changed it or just clarified? If it was previously more vague/arbitrary they can't be criticised for now making it less so.

Well yeah, they've certainly changed it. And like I said, they can do what they like, it's their comp.

My objection is to the retrospective application of the policy, not the policy it's self. If you are fine with that, good on you.

Jeez enough already with this boring repetitive topic. You guys are constantly bringing the game into disrepute.

Sounds like a few players we picked in Lane and Terepo stood out.
Who would of guessed it.

And yes some real bores on here

Chances are if you’re a dickhead on the piss you are probably also a dickhead whilst not on the piss, in which case do you think they will take it upon themselves to stop drinking piss?

Some people are dick heads on and off the piss. But I also think that some people are more severely affected by alcohol than others - their ability to think logically and control their impulses is more significantly impaired than others.
