Sure but you've got to be prepared. Draft some crazy Twitter posts, stock up on pitchforks, find a safe place to burn club memorabilia.

I'm prepared alright. If we don't re-sign Gutho and Moses, we are in crisis. Plus if we are forced to pay overs, we are also in crisis. Sack the board. Sack the coach and sack the idiot to allowed Iron Jack beer into our stadium. Oh and that trolly guy. Must be his fault too.

I don't envy our board and club management (Gurr and O'Neill) at the moment. We have an unprecedented number of players and our coach off-contract at the end of the year and a hell of a lot of media pressure to close out some important signings.

However I think they are doing it the right way. Imagine if we just bowed immediately to the demands of Gutho's manager - every other unsigned player would see as as walkovers at the negotiation table (well their manager scum would anyway). By playing hardball and standing our ground despite the noise we are showing that we are not going to be dictated to by player managers and I for one applaud this stance.

I am confident that we will re-sign BA, Moses and Gutho for the right amounts. Chairman McElduff is an experienced and senior business leader and this negotiation would be normal business for him.

What and signed him for $700K, which is what he wanted? Sure come in a little lower, like 550-600k, then move towards that 700K figure and be done with it. He is our captain and spiritual leader and has been our most consistent player when fit. We all love him for his great attitude and heart and what he delivers week in week out on the field. This is not the player you play hard ball with. Like the media are saying, who else are you going to sign that can give you what he does at that price? He should be the face of the team for the next 10 years. He is the perfect ambassador for our great club. Which fan or sponsor doesn't love King Gutho? So lets dick him around you say?

Anyway you slice this it has been a total balls up. There is good hard and savvy negotiation and then there is this. He will probably sign, but if he signs for more then $700K, then this hard nosed and insulting negotiating tactic has backfired massively. By all reports he would have signed initially for anywhere near that figure, but by being so stubbornly insulting, he and his manager will now play us off the other clubs and force us to match or come close to their offer/offers. And if you were another club, what would you do? Yes force your competitor to pay top dollar, just by throwing your name in the ring.

Yeah our club officials are genius's. And if anyone here wants to take me to task on the figures being bandied about, save it, they are sensible and logical figures for one. His manager would be obviously passing them on to the media to leverage our club and you can't just believe player salaries when they suit you. I would say that these figures are pretty spot on. Now lets wait and see what this mob have cooked up for us once again.

MJ, any idea if BA is having a say in the amounts or who’s priority at all considering he’s still unsigned? I mean, if they want to keep BA on board beyond 2019, you’d think he’d be the first of the big 3 to be resigned. If he’s tight with gutho, you’d expect him to follow soon after.

No idea on the specifics of whether BA has a say in amounts, etc. BA is apparently comfortable with his own contract position which will be sorted in about 5-6 weeks so I am told.

5-6 weeks is a very long time. Surely they’d need to fast track this a little to start sorting out players and the roster.

Hopefully they’re on top of the signings as we speak, otherwise we’ll get burnt.

Gee you have made a lot of assumptions there. All assuming the player is being reasonable and the club have no f**king idea.

I heard one CEO say the other day that extending or sacking a coach with 1 year to run makes more sense these days than leaving it to the final year. Just so the media don't make a circus out of it.

Problem with us was that we won the spoon. So offering strong numbers to the coach or underperforming players made no sense whatsoever.

I reckon that the pendulum has swung back in our favour, now that we have the stadium and the team is playing well. Yes we want to re-sign a few of our players, however if they want to shop themselves around then we might just get someone to replace them. Fine by me. Overs are for loser clubs in 2020.

I never said anything about the coach or anyone else for that matter. I am specifically talking about our Captain and best fullback in the comp that is on the open market. If he isn't worth $700K, in todays market, then you're kidding yourself.

This should have been sorted before the start of the season in regards to him and only him.

So what if he wanted $850k ? How much to you pay for a player who will never play origin or play for his country ? What's your upper limit on Gutho ? What is your walk away amount ?

Ummm, I believe the club offered him 4-500k back in December. Does that not suggest they’re attempting to sort it out before the start of the season?

Was 500k a decent offer back then, considering his form? Yes it was IMO. Did anyone know he was going to explode into form start of 19? Hell no.

Had the club pulled it off (4-500k per year) they’d be f^*king geniuses. Hats off to them for trying. Now hopefully he’ll sign somewhere between the 5-700k mark.
