I thought it was 1.9 over 3 years. Whilst that’s only $33k per year less, it’s a low $600k per year offer versus a mid $600k offer.

Either way, Gutho’s worth every cent of a $2.1 contract over 3 years so assuming that’s what he’s after, just keep him happy.

Now who is making outlandish assumptions? No one, not even big man voice, ever said or came close to $850K, so stop overstating the facts/reporting as we all know them to win your point.

$700K & $750K, but $700K is the main figure that all the reporting has been about, with some even suggesting that if we had initially agreed to somewhere between $600K to $700K it would have been excepted without feeling insulted.

No one has ever mentioned $850K is what he has been holding out for. We have managed this very poorly no matter what happens from here no matter what you say. It would not surprise me if Gutho got the jack of it and thought and moved on.

All we know is his manager is doing the negotiation and however much he demanded was too much for us. We also know our offer was too low for him. That's negotiations. There's a good chance we knew our initial offer would be unders just as it is certain Ayoub knew his initial demand would be more than any club would be willing to pay.

Because Ayoub should have started with a reasonable demand? His job is to get the maximum amount possible. Just as our management's job is to fit as much talent under the cap as possible without cheating.

There is good hard and savvy negotiation and then there is this. He will probably sign, but if he signs for more then $700K, then this hard nosed and insulting negotiating tactic has backfired massively. By all reports

He's been off contract since November. Ayoub would've known of the extent of rival interest long before then. More importantly, we didn't. We only know how much the player is worth to us, and I already told you that's less than whatever Ayoub's initial demand was.

Remember, we don't know the figure. We just know it was too much.

His manager would be obviously passing them on to the media to leverage our club and you can't just believe player salaries when they suit you. I would say that these figures are pretty spot on. See above. I agree at his best and injury free he might be worth $700k. But last year when we made our offer he was worth no more than $500k. Now after six games his value has increased by 40%? That's still a fair risk.

Moses and Paulo are far more effective attacking players than Gutherson, who is high involvement but sometimes should pass it to someone more dangerous rather than just taking another run. He's like an injury prone Darius Boyd without the big game experience.

Gee you have made a lot of assumptions there. All assuming the player is being reasonable and the club have no f**king idea.

I heard one CEO say the other day that extending or sacking a coach with 1 year to run makes more sense these days than leaving it to the final year. Just so the media don't make a circus out of it.

Problem with us was that we won the spoon. So offering strong numbers to the coach or underperforming players made no sense whatsoever.

I reckon that the pendulum has swung back in our favour, now that we have the stadium and the team is playing well. Yes we want to re-sign a few of our players, however if they want to shop themselves around then we might just get someone to replace them. Fine by me. Overs are for loser clubs in 2020.
