Stone is more like Beau Scott than Nathan Brown. Doubt he will ever offer what Brown does in terms of running the ball.

Would really still like him to put in some more kgs if it's at all possible. He's smaller than Gutherson (albeit comfortably shorter too) and Gutho is hardly a giant back at 96kg

Alvaro v Twal

Alvaro is averaging 44mins a game this year for 11 runs for 104 m / 34 tackles (at 91%). 1.4 tackle breaks. He has made 6 errors

Twal is averaging 59 mins a game for 13 runs for 120 m / 40 tackles (97%) 1.3 tackle breaks. Has made 4 errors conceded 2 penalties.

Yeah Twal is missing less tackles.

So considering Twal is playing 15 mins more, their output / work rate is fairly similar.

Not so sure those stats indicate any issues with the Eels keeping Alvaro over Twal. Especially when general opinion is Alvaro has started the year slowly.

Dan is older. Twal will still improve.

The next 5 rounds are critical. We have a hard run. We lose all 5 and I may start shit canning BA again.

It isn't shit canning. If we are not playing any better by rnd 16 then we did in rnd 1 there is your answer to BA. I am wary of a few games we won this year. We have had 2 orindary performances already.

Twal does a job. What does he cost? He isn't any better then what we have. But would offer more then Evans.

And what Hindy111 would do.
Offer Latrell 1.1million x 5yrs and the fullback gig. If Guth is going to cost 700k lets dangle a carrot at the Latrel kid.

Yeah pretty hard for Stone to crack 100m and 40 tackles when he only gets 15mins.

Nice little shade throwing one liner just to make yourself feel like a Tarzan on the internet there wank breath.

"At this stage" mean nothing to you?

Keyboard wanna be's!

I'd argue Melbourne are a shadow of their former selves and only winning ugly thanks to quite a dose of luck so far this season, and obviously the experience of guys like Smith and Bromwich and even Munster. They may click into a higher gear, of course, but if the rumours surrounding Curtis Scott are true it may also point to a shift within the squad. The Wank Four has been reduced to one and it shows.

I also reckon people overestimate the quality of the comp. We are in a pack of probably 10-12 sides who could literally come anywhere from 3rd to 12th or so. In some ways that's a function of the cap, but in some ways it's also just that we're in a bit of a shit spot for rugby leage right now. Some of the tactics that have become popular are not conducive to good footy, especially the ruck wrestle. The referee standards are poor and that contributes to momentum being hard to gather at times. And on top of all that the average quality of the players is not high at all.

Every side has more than their share of absolute plodders. Gone are the days when you had a few reserve graders you could count on to do a similar job long term. Even the top sides. If the Roosters lost Cronk/Keary and say a Tedesco or JWH for a long period, they'd be in deep shit. They've already got plodders like Lindsay Collins, Zane Tetevano, Matt Ikavalu and Nat Butcher in first grade on the regular.
Agree with this entirely.

People read far too much into the fortunes of the clubs coming 3rd - 12th. The reality is that there is a cigarette paper difference between those teams.

I’m just glad we are one of them again - it means that we aren’t far away from being 3rd. I also won’t defecate my pants in anger if we end up 12th.

Pretty sure the last offer 2 weeks ago was $650k for 3, and he wanted $700k for 4. His manager seems to keep upping it every time we don’t agree... next meeting he’ll want $800k for 6 years...

I’d offer him $650k for 4 years with a built in kicker of $50k if he plays rep footy or we win a comp

What I meant by wishing we kept Twal, is that he is ready now and only going to get better, whereas Stone and others are at least two to three years away to offer what Twal already can provide for our team and wouldn't have cost all that much. I even heard on the weekend that he could be considered for SOO if he keeps playing the way he is. Not that that will happen, especially playing for the Tigers at this stage.

But he is a ready NRL player that plugs the middle and makes great yardage, unlike that slow off the deck and little metre eater going by the name of Tepai Moreoa fellow. So over him.

Never said he would bend the line like Paulo, but he has an average metres per game over 120 and around 40 tackles a game, with 94% success rate. Highly prized stats those. Would help a lot to then be able to afford another Paulo type of player in the team. It's all about the balance. Stone is way off, if ever capable of such figures.

Amazing if true, you wouldn’t think we’d be leaking this. 750 is serious money for a player yet to play rep footy. Hopefully the club stands firm.
