NRL give South Sydney Rabbitohs $1.1m of salary cap space after retirement of Greg Inglis
RABBITOHS

The NRL has decided the South Sydney Rabbitohs will have around $1.1 million to spend in their salary cap this year and next season due to the retirement of champion centre Greg Inglis.

After examining the Rabbitohs submissions in relation to Inglis’ sudden retirement, the NRL’s salary cap auditor has determined South Sydney will have to include around $900,000 of Inglis’s $2 million contract on their books.

We’d have signed him for 4 years, on the figure he wanted. Setting a deadline and “introducing” DWZ was very clever. The deal is fair, we haven’t buckled. We called Ayoub’s bluff.

If the reporting is right that we are topping up his contract this year to get the next 3 years over the line, to me his manager got what he wanted. Cash.

And for all the chest beating that we won't pay overs, it is a sneaky way to save face when you are trying to play tough, but end up losing your nerve at the eleventh hour.

Topping him up when we are apparently well under the cap is fine by me. We still haven’t paid overs.

I reckon the "top up" story has been leaked as a face saving exercise by Slaggy Sam.
We had the money. Weve bought no one. Fair enough for mine. It could be just 50k. Who knows.

They stayed strong until we refused to pay more, then they copped the money but stayed strong on four years until we set a deadline. Then they folded like Portuguese chicken after Gutho admitted there was no offer from Manly.

What did the club give up? We didn't get him for the $400k we offered last year, and we brought forward our decision on Arthur by two weeks.

We have shrewd negotiators at the club now. People with no emotion invested in the club, players or fans. That's how you get success. By hiring reptiles to make the tough decisions. They are immune to all the footy fan media bullshit. You would never catch them posting in here with us merkins.

Well today is my 13th year anniversary of posting in here.
What a landmark day. Our next premiership captain signs a contract extension on my anniversary of being in LU.
