Why do you see it like that? With Penrith more than likely going to cover a chunk of 19/20, wouldn’t it be a decent way to get a good player on the books and likely at a good rate?

Yeah agreed. Especially with no really high quality backs off contract this year I'd go for this year until the end of 2021.

I mean he's hardly my first choice, but he's a quality player at his best and if we can get a decent deal we'll do well out of it IMO. I just understand that if we did sign him I would also be calling him horrible names for brain explosions lol

Centre? He can cover wing and fullback but I feel those positions are taken.

If it is centre I gather Salmon and Parry aren't rated as our 2020 centre pairing.I thought they where a chance.

Wouldn't be surprised if its wing with Fergo playing centres this week. Fergo has played centres before and probably more than DWZ ever has.
If the backline shapes up as Guth, Sivo, Mennings, Fergo, DWZ, DBrown and Moses then im excited.
Get the balance right with the fwds and have Salmon as 14 to cover Reed and any backline spots then we can have a very competitive outfit to takes us to the semis.
I'd also like to see Evans back on the bench as i think he has been one of unlucky ones to be cast aside very quickly whereas the perennial favourites always get named.

Centre for now. Gutho is obviously first choice at the back and rightly so

Options down the track to maybe move Gutho to the centres. And short term if Salmon is being asked to work on his game, could have Gutho at 6 for a few games and DWZ at the back until Brown is back or Salmon is called on again. Nice to have options.

If he has asked for a release, the Panthers don't have to cover any of his salary. He's the one bailing on a contract, not the Panthers.

EDIT - actually, the SMH report that the Panthers may yet chip in on some of his salary to get him off their books...
