IF we were able to develop a forward leader in our club and that is a huge IF, the player I see with the most potential is Shaun Lane. He has been our best and most consistent player this year imo.Nathan Brown?

i have a theory on our ongoing shitness over the last few weeks
maybe a lot of players who are off contract have either been told or just suspect they are not being renewed and there is no interest in them from other clubs so they are hanging in limbo trying to find a gig somewhere
whatever the reason their minds just aren't on the job and it shows
But some of our worst offenders are actually signed for next year: Smith, Terepo, George Jennings and Alvaro (has an option) all signedfor 2020
We've tried this with Watmough and Scott. People didn't like that after a while.
It is still the aim... but what already recognised leader would want to come here? And you cannot develop leaders overnight (or even in one or two seasons) among footballers who are somewhat neanderthal in their thinking.Well i am a fan and i am the dumbest person on the planet, so it is hard to argue with you on that point.
And i know the NFL is different and somewhat easier to control some of this stuff but the logic of trying to bring in leaders (and smarter footballers) should still be the aim.
We can't even find a balance, which is why we are where we are........
So 2019 is more relevant than 2018.Coz recent results are more relevant than long-term results. That doesn't mean that that historic results are irrelevant. But if you keep taking a simple average of a coach's record from day zero, a bloke who wins 26 games in year 1, and then adopts an affirmative action policy to defense will keep his job for quite a while. By the way, I lied before, it was marine biology that I failed, I got 200 for 4 unit maths.
The past two weeks we've lost by a try each time, and either matched or made more line breaks than the opposition. They've both been very close games. We haven’t competed in 3 weeks.
It's too early in the year to pay attention to where teams are on the ladder - look at Manly tonight. And our past two games were 'diabolical' because both teams were working very hard in defence. Our scramble was excellent in both games. Unfortunately our ball control has been very poor. We need to be more patient and grind. And the last two weeks, both teams are having a very average season, and played a diabolical game.
I would've thought it was obvious but clearly not. You try to point it out and f**kwits take the piss.I know it has been said on here many times over the last few years and despite peoples thoughts on the individuals recruited at various times to close this issue, the one constant we have been lacking and continue to lack is LEADERSHIP, especially in the forwards.
They cost money. And we dont have anyone capable of developing any.
You mean the Knights team we should have beaten in Newcastle because they'd lost a few games?PS If you want to see how to tackle effectively just watch Knight's game against Roosters. Yes BA I mean you!
Speaks well too. Not as f**ken dumb as Gutherson.IF we were able to develop a forward leader in our club and that is a huge IF, the player I see with the most potential is Shaun Lane. He has been our best and most consistent player this year imo.
I don't think Brown is the answer either. We need a JWH, Tapou, Sam Burgess type of player.Nathan Brown?
So 2019 is more relevant than 2018.
And the previous 5 games are more relevant than the 5 before that.So 2019 is more relevant than 2018.
Can't do much grinding if you continually lose the ball. What most disappoints is the lack of effort and our style of play. Our tackling is poor, often grabbing in tackles and not locking the ball up. Teams make easy metres as there is no speed in our D line and players are left on the ground. Because of that we always lose in the ruck. And what has happened to our attack? Our handling has been diabolical and our passing/offloading is almost non-existent. One out running will not win matches. But currently that is our state of affairs and all that falls onto the coaches. The past two weeks we've lost by a try each time, and either matched or made more line breaks than the opposition. They've both been very close games.

SACK THE f**kEN COACH !!
And yet merkins wigged out because we lost to them. They are currently in the top four.I am behind BA. But if he fails this year I'd prefer he left.
I reckon our squads as good as Newcastle. I like how Brown turned their season around. That impressed me.
How exactly do these things you mention fall onto the coaches? Can't do much grinding if you continually lose the ball. What most disappoints is the lack of effort and our style of play. We are competing. How many wins should this roster be racking up? How many rosters would you say are worse than ours?
If we lost to all the better rosters and beat all the worse ones, and won half of our games against all the rosters on our level, how many wins would we have? And would that number of wins be acceptable?
