At the end of his career in a shit team Sterlo was ordinary, whereas Johns was always f**king awesome.

Newcastle's team was never shit, though - in 2007, Newcastle still had:

Danny Buderus
Kurt Gidley
Adam MacDougall
Jarrod Mullen
Steve Simpson
Akuila Uate

I'll concede that Uate was young, and not getting massive game time, but he still played.

Throw in Kirk Reynoldson, Josh Perry, and a few others...

Their side was way better than the 1995 Eels.

Andrew Johns was a brilliant player, and deserves to be an Immortal.

Peter Steeling, too, was a brilliant player, and deserves to be an Immortal.
If he played on a year or 2 longer than he should have, that just makes him all the more Immortal in my eyes. Bled blue n gold and tried to keep us competitive in what was obviously going to be lean years following the glory days. Get him up here, I wanna boof him!

I honestly couldn't give a f**k about an artificial title of 'Immortal'. People know who could play footy.

True.

But I think it's about showing respect to our code's greatest ever players.

Peter Sterling is definitely up there with the greatest half backs of all time.

Was he the best all-round halfback? Probably not.

But as a complete player, he was simply phenomenal, and I think he is deserving of the title.

Not to mention his contribution to the game as an analyst, announcer, and columnist.

Peter Sterling is an absolute ornament to the game of rugby league - let's get him that title of next Immortal, because he actually deserves it more than most.

I know the game was played a bit differently back then but Sterlo is next in line behind Joey IMO. When you take into consideration the time gap between the 2, he should already have been added before Joey.

I’m not gonna diminish Sterlo’s achievements at all.
However when I think of how great Johns was I tend to think back to the 2005 season where the Knights ran last. They did so because Johns spend a large amount of time out injured, during which the Knights were f**king terrible. I believe we flogged them 50-0 at one stage, if I remember correctly.
Then Johns came back from injury and they went on a winning streak. He clearly was the difference between that team being great or being shithouse. He just made those around him better players.

One of the mods said he wasn't banned. Twizz I think. Maybe he is cactus f**ktus? If so R.I.P. El D, you cantankerous merkin. If he is dead, I can understand why it wouldn't be announced. Most on here have no problem speaking ill of the dead. I try not to but will make exceptions for Bourbon Bec.

Oh I assumed he was banned.
Most likey he has died. How ? At this stage it remains a mystery.

This is an issue for other members. If we do die how will the others no? Imagine say Pou or Gary or Strider just stopped posting. f**k.

And part of the reason they were terrible was cos Johns ate up all their salary cap

Sterlo never played for the '95 Eels.
