Anyone who thinks the game was better pre 90's is kidding themselves and are saddistic bastards! It is great that the Eels won 4 premierships and all but when i watch those games and the level of violence and players actively trying to break bones and necks etc. i wonder about the people playing the game...........

It was garbage before 10mtr rule. I did like 90s footy where it was less proffessional and less respect was given to possesion. Offloads, grubbers and chip and chases. It was fun to watch.
Now is more like a game of Chess.

Fair point, but it is easier to look good in a gun side. Especially for a fullback. Hayne could of been the greatest player the game had ever seen, But he wasn't even close. And that is all on him.

He was more concerned about being the best player in the team rather than being a great player in a great team. He never showed any signs of playing nice in the sandpit.

As good as he was, he was also part of what made our team so shit. Loved watching some of his amazing feats but I am very glad that he is now part of our history.
