But it's not the same. It was less in previous years. His output per minute is best this year (though as I mentioned in another post the trend for all players is that your points per minute reduces the longer you play.) His form isn't better this year just because his points per minute is better. His form is pretty much the same. I don't know how you can say he was in 'much better form' in previous years. He just played longer minutes (with less output.)
Based on super coach? ...Super coach loves tacklers .... Tep has played almost exclusively in the middle this year - but probably split edge/middle past years .... middles generally make more tackles

I reckon Gower still has another season in him, he's plating good footy, and from reports he wants to play on. It's not as if he'd be looking for a top 17 contract. nor would we be signing him with the intent of being anything other than an ultra reliable back up

As good as he's been, I reckon it's time for him to move on.

It was Pou's suggestion to use fantasy stats as he reckons they are a good comparison. So I did.

Agreed...so I’m still waiting to see how Pou justifies the fact that Tep was in better form in previous years due to his SuperCoach stats. Particularly, as @Noise points out...

For those saying re-sign Gower should probably read this "As 2019 will be David's last season playing in the NRL, he has commenced his transition out of football and is completing his Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing Management in preparation for his future role at the Club."

https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2018/10/30/eels-re-sign-four-players/
If that’s his decision, then good luck to him. If he’s keen to go around again, I can’t see why he can’t do both (on and off field) roles next year.

That's not definite You should probably read this from Gower himself more recently (April this year):
I’m 34 in September. I’ll either be playing on for Parramatta – I don’t want to play against them – having a stint in England, or retiring. When my post-playing career does begin, I’m hoping it can be at the Eels. I’ve made my home here. But I’d love to rack up 100 games for the club first – I’m on 85.

The worrying thing with Moeroa isn't his ability, it's his concussions.

The dude will be a 300 game NRL player if his head knocks don't win the race. He's already got 100 at 23 and he's clearly a genuine first grader. I've said a few times that I think it's also quite clear he grew up as a beast of a kid who just ran over other players, and never learned to run a line like, say, Lachlan Fitzgibbon. So his junior form in hindsight was a bit misleading.

I reckon he needs to sit out a bit, for his own health and for his football too. I wouldn't be cut up if he left but I also have no issue with him staying on.

I don’t think it’s as clear as you say that he’s a genuine first grader. He’s not pushing out the numbers that a genuine first grader generally does.

Lol. FFS Pou, now you’re clutching at straws.

I think the fact he’s looking outside of the NRL is a far better indicator of Tep’s ability over a long period, rather than his “loss of form” this year...or do you think every NRL coach (including BA) has only seen him play the last 11 games?

Don’t you prescribe to the “form is temporary, class is permanent” mantra?
He's looking outside the NRL because he can, hoping to push his price up. No player wants to be out of form in the year he's off contract but here he is. I'd say NRL clubs are worried about all the head knocks. Why do you think he's suddenly wearing head gear?

I'm not saying its a bad thing - just that fantasy is quite flattering to making tackles

Yes and no. A tackling machine will probably average around 50 which is kind of a par score. The highest scoring players are all attacking players. Even the best forwards (Talmololo) get most of their points from attacking numbers

I’d say that NRL clubs are more concerned with the fact that since he debuted in 2014 he has achieved a total of 9 line breaks, 30 offloads and an average of 78.5 metres per game.

He got a decent contract because he was pushing out similar numbers as a 19 year old and everyone thought he would improve. He’s now 23 and hasn’t progressed.

FFS keep up northern beaches boys ... I don't care about attacking players - its about Tep

Tepai partially on an edge to Tepai pretty much always in the middle this year .... middle = more tackles = more fantasy .... hence why looks a bit better this year fantasy wise

Come on Strider...keep up yourself. Pou said his SuperCoach points were better in previous years and this is a better indication of form. As you’ve pointed out, that’s not the case. That’s all we’re saying.

You said Supercoach is "flattering towards tackles". It isn't. You only get 1 point for a tackle. Supercoach is flattering towards attacking stats these days. Tackling machines haven't featured in the top players since Hindmarsh retired because they adjusted the points scoring towards rewarding attacking plays.
