I’d say that NRL clubs are more concerned with the fact that since he debuted in 2014 he has achieved a total of 9 line breaks, 30 offloads and an average of 78.5 metres per game.

He got a decent contract because he was pushing out similar numbers as a 19 year old and everyone thought he would improve. He’s now 23 and hasn’t progressed.
Plenty of forwards his age offer less than that and still have NRL contracts. He obviously hasn't remained an edge player since his debut in 2015, and this year has declined significantly. But unless this year's form is the new normal he'll still be a first grader, and only 24 at season's end.

In attack...no he didn’t. We were all hoping he’d kick on and become one, but he hasn’t. He’s an average defender and NSW cup standard in attack. As such, he’s a fringe first grader and I’m sure he has been offered a contract as such.
He did. He has made zero line breaks this year. Divide his average line breaks from previous years by zero and you get a very low number.

FFS...no one has said he isn’t worth an NRL contract. He’d be decent depth at around $200k and I think that’s what the club has valued him at.

Throw out some names of 23 year olds who you think would be on similar money (circa $400k) and let’s compare stats.

This isn’t the only year he hasn’t made a line break. The most he has made in a single year is 3!!!!

That’s horrendous

We're obviously offering little enough that rugby are sniffing around (or his manager is saying they are). According to this article they have tried to get him every time he's off contract: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/parram...to-rugby/f734315f-f022-4e63-ac8e-78f358b36e1b

Either way, if we really wanted him to stay he wouldn't be stuck in reserve grade during contract negotiations.

Well I’m not going to go through every forward in the NRL, but Alvaro, who isn’t noted for his tackle busting capabilities, has made 78 tackle breaks in about 25 less games.

Alvaro has been a passenger this year but has made 8 tackle breaks (1 less than tep in his whole f**king career).
Are you comparing Alvaro's tackle breaks to Moeroa's line breaks? Or you're saying Alvaro has made eight line breaks this year?

Yeah I f**ked that one up...Too many Kosciusko Pale Ales down here in Thredbo.

In my defence, the ridiculous NRL website have different stats for each player under “attack”. line breaks are displayed for some players and tackle breaks for others.

  • Tep’s form was much better previously
  • SuperCoach points is a good indicator of form
  • Tep is a MUCH better defender than Gower
Take your pick.
All true but for the SuperCoach point where you've misquoted me. SuperCoach is a good indicator of relative form, and Moeroa's form was a lot better than when he played longer minutes and spent time out wide.

Three line breaks per season is infinitely more than zero.

You said Supercoach is "flattering towards tackles". It isn't. You only get 1 point for a tackle. Supercoach is flattering towards attacking stats these days. Tackling machines haven't featured in the top players since Hindmarsh retired because they adjusted the points scoring towards rewarding attacking plays.
Im saying its easy to rack up points if you are a defender in the middle .... 30 tackles 30 points ..... how many tries do you need to get that? Alot of forwards are lucky to score a try or two a year ffs

you obviously aren’t aware of how supercoach awards points. 1 try will usually get you 30 points.
If you score a try where you crash over the line (like forwards often do) even when it’s not a clean line break they reward it as such and you usually get about 30 points: try 18, line break 10, hitup 2. Most tries get this. A tackle bust thrown in there will get you 32.
If you score a try from a kick (usually least amount of points)you only get 18 or 20 depending how you regathered and scored.
As I have been saying all along (which you don’t seem to get) it is def not ‘flattering’ or ‘loves’ tackles. It is completely flattering to and loves attack.

Can’t believe the tangents we go on, on here when discussing players. Fantasy team points etc.

Moeroa doesn’t offer a great deal. Anyone with two working eyes and a hint of how to watch a footy game objectively can see that.

He’s a stock standard player that are a dime a dozen in the NRL. Had promise early and hasn’t improved one bit in that time. I said exactly the same last season. If he’s retained on back up money, happy days. No loss if he leaves for elsewhere.
