Sivo did great running down the edge fending off two, but Semi went up the middle and scattered them like nine pins.

Yes. Semi is better. But he wasn't in his first season in 2013.And 2014 was still up and down. Only 2016 and 2017 did we see Semi start to really blossum. Prior he was always good for a fumble or silly play the ball. Something I am yet to see Sivo do.
Also how often did Semi do these runs and was it off the back of the defense being blasted away and tired?
I want to see Sivo in 12mths time and see what he becomes. His rise is dramatic. I still don't think his fitness is where it will be in another season.

Not sure why you are attempting to diminish Semi's ability. Sivo can play and we are lucky to have him, but Semi had those 1%ers many times a game for many years. Semi has the ability to break a tackle then goose step back to top speed in a split second. I don't recall another player able to do that other than Jarryd.

As I get older I always appreciate getting a Semi. But if I was to pick between Semi and Jake T to add to this squad, it would be Jake every day of the week. In the middle of the ruck he is a weapon in defence. He would turn us into a legitimate top four team straight away.

As I get older, all I get is a Semi.

We all need to remember that Semi had never played RL in his entire life before and didn't play that many lower grade games before making his debut in the NRL while only being 21 years old I think. Sivo is what 25-26 years old and has acclimatised to Aus now for 4 or 5 years and played at least 2 or 3 seasons of lower grade Rugby League before he came to us.

Semi without a doubt at this stage is the better player and is the reason the whole world took notice and is worth a packet. And of course we should sign him if he wants to come home. Surely now we could get him some introductions to TPA's, especially since we have a winning team(more interest therefore more eyeballs greater value to potential suitor) the best Stadium in the State and a city(Parra CBD) that is modernising and developing at the rate of knots with more businesses moving in all the time?

Sivo started in country footy, under 20 sides are stronger then most country footy sides.

He join panthers in 2017, I think and was only a part-timer.

Sivo has hardly been in the “NRL system” or been a full timer.

Semi was in the “NRL system” the minute he got of the plane, which not only included the physical support side but also support of the field.

What Sivo, did basically by himself (he obviously had some support with getting the start with country footy) to go from country footy to an NRL contract within 3-4 years is amazing. He was in a new country with no NRL support.

He must be one motivated dude!!

I respect you for standing by your convictions, and being man enough to admit you were wrong.

I may be going off a little premature, but I am that confident in him, that I will put myself out there:

Dylan Brown will be New Zealand's next big hope in Test football.

He's playing a back seat role to Moses (and in the form Moses is in, why wouldn't he?), but Dylan Brown has all the tools, imo.

I know he's been solid rather than exciting, but I'm playing close attention to how he handles himself, rather than the plays themselves.

For instance, his kick for Sivo's try against Newcastle the right play, and it was executed with such calmness...it was mind-blowing, to me, to witness a 19-year old ice a game like that.

He is a special talent.

I haven't got any convictions about him, one way or the other. Just not yet convinced about him, that's all.

This. If it turns out he is staying in onion or we can’t afford him, c’est la vie. But Semi is an awesome player, this doesn’t detract from Sivo’s ability, not does any disparate salary detract from Semi’s ability

I'm not. Semi was excellent in 16 and 17. Never seen a guy like him.
Sivo may be at full potential but he may also improve more and more. Either way one costs around 250k and the other 800k. How much extra influence will Semi have for that half a million?
In saying that he would be better then the 800k we paid MJ.

Have we got a great record in providing second Eels opportunities?
I can only think of Tahu and Hayne and both those were absolute disasters.
Are there and others?
Just thought of a goodun. Bob (The Bear) O'Reilly. Any others?
