Apparently they’re cashed up. Would hate to see him playing for them.

He would be turning 29 halfway through the 2021 season.
He would cost 800k+
He would of been out of game for 3 yrs

I reckon its a big risk. Can land some great wingers for 400-500k. Semi would be the best but how much better on a game to game basis?

At 29 he'll still be the best winger in the game. He's not going on a mormon mission. In rugby he'll still be training full time and eating the high protein diet and whatnot. It'd be like he never left. And most players are still at their peak at 30.

Even off his peak, he's still likely the best winger in the game.

When he left it was Semi>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>some other merkin who shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.

Sure. But Rapana and Mansour form in 2017 was also excellent. Now Mansour is barely NRL level and while Rapana is great he isnt at his 2016/2017 form which was also excellent. Why can't Semi form dip? I am not saying it will. But it's a gamble.

Depends on the position. A lot of time it's more the desire.
Mansour is 29 and cooked
Hayne never looked the same as that 26yld that left the game
Dugan is another who got worse as aged.

There are also great players who have 2 or 3 standout seasons over there 10yr nrl career. And that isn't to say the other 6 or 7 are bad. Shcikfoske and B.Hodgson are examples. J.Moodie played origin ffs.

I am sure Semi would be very good. But I am unsure he will ever be 2017 level ever again. His best 4 years would of been 2017-2020. We got one of them and Rugby the other 3.

We also have this guy called Maika Sivo in our squad, who is only in his first year of NRL. Come 2021 he’ll be a more complete player and whilst might not be quite up to Semi standards, won’t be all that far off IMO. He also will cost half as much.

I think Sivo is doing a great job, and will only get better...

But he will not get anywhere near Semi's level, imo.

Semi was an absolute freak of a talent - still is.

Sivo is still raw, but comparing the impacts on games that they each had in their rookie years, and they don't match up, imo.

I've no doubt that Maika will be in the top echelon of wingers in a year or two; I just don't think he can reach the insanely high standards that Semi set.

Closest we will get to Semi. We must all remember this is Sivo's first year in 1st grade and probably would not have be in from the 1st game of the season if George Jennings wasn't injured. What a blessing in disguise.
Only 3 or 4 weeks pre-season training with the team as well due to a shoulder reconstruction.
A full pre-season and we may see Sivo be even better next year. He has been outstanding and glad he won Parra's rookie of the year.
I'd love to see Semi back where he belongs at the Eels but not for a $1m per season unless the cap adjusts accordingly or a marquee player allowance is introduced or exempt from the cap.
Does anyone know how he's been going in Yawnion? Cbf watching that sport...

Semi has something sivo doesn’t seem to possess. Shear speed. So many times we’ve seen sivo in open space, but gets hauled in. Semi would of turned that chance into points.

Sivo arguably has been a better buy than Semi at the same stage of their careers. His defence is certainly much better than probably Semi's even when he left.

Agree to disagree mate. Semi was a freak but had plenty of errors in him. Sivo doesn’t have quite the freakish ability but is less error prone. If money was no object than you’d go Semi every time. Factoring in both of their salaries Sivo gets the nod for mine.
