Freddy picked Matto as 18th man for SOO. I reckon $500 is about right.

A really fair deal would mean he gets paid more if he played well and was in Origin contention.
But he’d have to pay money back if played like a reserve grader.
I hope we signed him to that deal

I'm sure that's what happened, however that doesn't mean he wouldn't leave for the same money. There are other reasons he might want out.

Campbell-Gillard might be on the same amount of money he was on at Penrith. Just like Matterson he wouldn't even have to move house.

Not a bad deal for Matterson, so Tigers have given up on a player swap also. I'm sure has similar offers from other clubs so up to him to decide which club and hopefully it'll be ours. Will replace a like for like player as Ma'u also has a good skillset but is probably better as has a step before the line. I think Matterson just runs straight. We are still short a centre and fullback replacements in case there are injuries there.

I think the good thing about Matterson is that he would be a handy five-eight replacement - in the John Sutton mould.

Yeh, that's what the SMH guy reckons (and there are several other similar articles). $350k for 2020 and $425k for 2021.

The only place I've seen someone suggest that his salary was $400k was in the recent articles after his release that clam that the release frees up 400k.
