Personally I'd have Davey there over Capewell based on what I've seen.

Davey might not be exciting or flashy but as a backup he tackles his ring piece out, runs a good line and plays 80 mins of high involvement footy. He might not be up to it, hard to say without seeing the guy at that level... But Capewell is rubbish IMO

Haha, imagine if the second roe merry go round stopped and Frizzell went to Roosters, Matterson goes to Dragons, Arrow goes to Tigers, Fifita and Adam Crighton stay where they are, and we end up with Capewell.

I don't get the Capewell love either. Other thsn the fact he is young, Taka fills our role of a guy who is not quite a centre and not quite a backrower.

If we do sign a starting edge forward, our depth options aren’t to bad (same as this year):

Taka
Marata
Gower
Davey
Stone / salmon (both are potential options and have played there before).

With signing RCG / TBC edge forward we probably can’t expect to much quality in the depth department.

However probably wouId be good to add another cheap project type edge to the squad if possible - maybe someone that can play a few positions.

That Brisbane Souths side was stacked with half the QLD origin side. The comp was a lot stronger than the dross in the QLD cup these days, they might have been part time but the standard was much stronger.

Exactly! I didn't make my point very well, but I was asnwering Glenneel's post which referenced the discussion from the day before about successful coaches in NRL not coaching lower grade and Glenneel said well Bennett did and I said................ oh never mind

Wasn't Bennett coaching in Qld Cup or whatever it was called back then? I know he was coaching some club up there before he became Broncos first coach.

It was the main QRL competition. It wasn't reserve grade. He was captain-coach I think initially.
