Stefano was official announced by Tigers today.
I reckon that puts to bed any rumours of a backflip.
With Hollis amd Hughes both turning 19 this year and Kafusi coming through it may not be a huge issue. Unless Stefano ended up the next superstar forward. Most likely an average to above avergae prop rather then a NSW prospect.
With Jnr and RCG locked down for the next 3yrs + and 3 young hopefull I am unsure if he will be missed. Time will tell but with our squad currently we wouldn't be able to offer all 4 of these young guys a top 17 spot.
Let's hope Hollis,Kafusi and Hughes all end up the better players.

Out of interest for those in the know, who had bigger raps at the same age, Stefano or Pauli Pauli?

Have to give the Tigers fans some joy.
Missed out on Arrow, Latrell and now Douehi after he and his family were unhappy with Tigers not wanting to pay what Soufs wanted for his release.

Looks like they can't land a big name signing just like we couldn't post Hayne's 1st departure.
If Stefano does feature in 1st grade for us this year and is a success does his Tigers contract become irrelevant? Contracts these days mean jack..

For 2021? If so, that’s because they are being strategic when the inevitable request to rescind the contract occurs.

So what proportion of contracts do you reckon are not either seen out or terminated after the club gives the player permission to seek out a better deal?

I don't think a player or his management are asking or seeking permission...they dont want to honour a contract for various reasons. They tell a club sorry not joining due to: change of mind, compassionate reasons, or want to stay or be part of a stronger or successful club.
Happens often enough..

Nearly anyone who signed for Parra during that period signed for the wrong reasons. They knew they weren't going to win a premiership any time soon. The only blokes who signed for the right reasons were the ones looking for an opportunity that better clubs couldn't provide.

He was but signed for the wrong reasons.
I know too much to elaborate about the situation for obvious reasons..i will leave it at that...

I know more about the situation and everything alluded to here is unsubstantiated. Enough said.

Ask SBW or Jamie Lyon whether their registered contracts were enforceable. Since time immemorial people have negotiated their way out of an existing contract. But the terms of that contract are enforceable, and affect the conditions on which a release is granted. The overwhelming majority of NRL contracts run to their full term, or are extended, or terminate when the club chooses to allow a player to seek a better deal elsewhere. I'm not sure that 'contracts these days mean jack'. Take the whole set of players who have played SofO in the last 2 years. How many of them, other than LM, have sought and gained a release in dubious circumstances?

Couldn't be bothered bringing them all up but here are some examples:
Ryan Matterson
Luke Lewis
Josh Papalii
Josh Ado-Carr (in motion)
James Roberts
Ironically all Origin players bar Matto (18th man twice last year)
Plenty more than this list of players..
I rest my case..

Papali did exactly what the rules explicitly said were right at the time .... he did exactly what the contract said

I think both sides of this story are correct to an extent .... there seems to be more and more players not finishing their contracts, for whatever reason .... but it is still happening within the bounds of a contract - and needs agreement to happen

wonder how many cases of a player/manager wanting to leave exist that we never hear of because it just gets flatly stopped from the start (gotta stick to the contract)?
