Do you ever get sick of trying to educate idiots on the way contracts work?Seriously.. That's me beaten. I give up.

Couldn't be bothered bringing them all up but here are some examples:
Ryan Matterson
Luke Lewis
Josh Papalii
Josh Ado-Carr (in motion)
James Roberts
Ironically all Origin players bar Matto (18th man twice last year)
Plenty more than this list of players..
I rest my case..
No Lewis when he signed for Souths..Lewis the club wanted him gone
Robert's seemed mutual
Ado Carr could be genuine.Family here and living in Melbourne
Papali was during 10day cooling off period
Matto seems only one.
Klemmer did the same however.
That's a bit uncalled for...Do you ever get sick of trying to educate idiots on the way contracts work?
Not sure he does, but I’d like to subscribe to his newsletter.Do you ever get sick of trying to educate idiots on the way contracts work?
NRL really needs to negotiate trade system with RLPAThe problem with enforcing the terms of a contract within a team sport such as the NRL is that whilst you can enforce the performance of the terms of the contract, you can't enforce how well they are performed.
Which from either side can and does provide a great deal of incentive to negotiate a way out when the club / player relationship breaks down for whatever reason.
Examples being that if a player wants to hold a club to their end, the club can't simply walk away, but can throw them into reggies for the duration, which isn't going to benefit either club nor player, or if a player wants out of a club, it'll very likely affect their performance both on and off the field, so again no one wins there.
But as Barry said, they aren't just "broken" , they're renegotiated.

No Lewis when he signed for Souths...
His point was correct. That's a bit uncalled for...
What sort of paper are we talking about?I still need @Barry O'Speedwagon to confirm the worth of a contract as compared to the paper it's written on

Good point.Josh Ado Carr is a perfect example that contracts cannot just be broken.
From all reports he wants to return to Sydney ASAP but Storm won’t release him:
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/cou...k/news-story/513d1116b1b980ee454067705656a6b6
Storm boss Dave Donaghy on Thursday told RSN Melbourne the club wasn’t prepared to let Addo-Carr walk any time soon.
https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/12/20/storm-set-to-release-addo-carr-after-2020/
Melbourne are prepared to release representative star Josh Addo-Carr on compassionate grounds provided the Storm receive compensation in the form of a transfer fee or player swap following the 2020 season.
Etc etc etc
Thats what I thought. I assume it is probably scented as well.I mean, I presume most contracts are probably written on some kind of fancy legal paper. Like with letterhead and whatnot
Exactly right..sugar coat it whatever way u like..at the end of the by mutual consensus, swap deals, compassionate grounds it further shows if a player wants out it will happen. What is the point of keeping a player who digs their heels in and states they no longer want to play at said club. His point was correct.
All you did was provide examples of where a player didn't see out a contract because the player and the club agreed it wasn't worth continuing. What he was suggesting is that the contract itself provides the means for that to occur and ensures that both parties can separate in a mutually agreed fashion. So, in all of your examples the contract was critically important. You reinforced his original point.

Too many delusional people on here who cant comprehend contracts are always broken.
Another loser comment...factI feel you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what constitutes breaking a contract and thus you are, in fact, deluded.
Hint: termination by mutual agreement isn't it.
