The issue is not players just leaving here.
It is the fact the Tigers have paid a guy 300k who has never played NRL. And a guy our club has developed. This doesn't happen that often.
I reckon there is a bit of a gentleman agreement between lots of clubs that you don't do this. It sets a bad trend and it's just low.
Matterson is a different example. I am sure his management could of asked the Tigers for extra 150k if that was the issue and they could of went YES.
Do you think we didn't upgrade Guhterson or N.Brown contracts who come on unders. I guarantee we did. Same as K.Edwards, Manu and Semi...

I'd like the NRL to introduce something similar to USA sports where rookies can only make a MAX amount for first 1 or 2 seasons. Maybe cap it at 160k.
The Stefano thing forces Eels to try and match it and both clubs risking a 300k loss on a guy who may not ever make it.....

It was an emotional and desperate move by a desperate club who seem to be taking other clubs rejects at this point.
