I'd happily flick Fergo. He is getting a bit passed it. Happy if it was his last season.
Blake is looking like a rubbish signing also. 5 yrs of it. Has the physique but lacks heart
Waqa tore your panthers a new one 3 weeks ago. Cost them 2 points. Any defensive issues between him and Fergo are systematic and can be fixed.

Blake recently swung a game for us, he has ability without consistency

He actually scored a ripper try v Raiders only it was called back. Waqa is definitely our temperamental Lamborghini.

Sure. He can be origin material but I doubt ever reach that cause he is lazy. He rarely looks for work like MJ does when f**king it out. At 25 he is in his peak. Unsure if he is any better then he was 4 yrs ago

Well who better than MJ to mentor him. He's not even played 20 games for us. You can hardly say he's a rubbish signing. There you go exaggerating again.

and that was probably dodgy cos the Roosters organised it

Theoretically that is what makes it legitimate. A player should be able to move clubs and the 3rd party sponsor should then come with him because it has nothing to do with the club.

If the sponsor immediately drops of the player, then the warning signs go up that the sponsor wasn't truly independent of the club.

So far he has been a poor signing and that is what I said.. And if we have 5yrs of it then it goes down as one of our worse. He would be on 500k.
His defense has been putrid. One game he has won us single handed. He has lost us a few now with poor defense.

I feel like if you really looked, someone or other on here would have suggested every single merkin in NRL history....

When there's blokes who pushed hard for Anthony f**ken Watts, or wanted us to beat 550k Tigers deals for Packer and Matulino, or sign up Michael "Site Foreman" Lichaa.... There's a good reason fans don't pick football teams

Mate, I wasn't aware of the extent of the guys mental issues at the time I suggested we sign him. I was looking only at his ability as a hooker and that was brilliant at times. I thought if BA got a hold of him and showed him love, discipline and direction in a club environment again he could get back his game.

Also we were in need of quality footballers at the time and there was no doubt as a footballer he was quality. As for his wayward and erratic behaviour off the field, I am not privy to the finer details other then passing references from this forum and the media.

As for it being a good reason why fans don't pick players, sure but the reason you even know about these players is because COACHES picked them in the first place and some of them multiple coaches at that.

Mate, some players have a stellar season or two and then drop off from that and never regain their previous best form again for a myriad of reasons. If a club picks up a player at that peak moment and he doesn't perform as expected it is just one of those things. Is it the coaches fault, maybe. Maybe he should of done better research on the player? Kieran Foran anyone?

Or his persistence with Corey Norman in particular till it got to out of hand. He could see the value in him and his abilities on the field so he was willing to work with him and try to get the best out of him. Till he realised he couldn't and he was not the answer for our club moving forward. Is BA a dud coach that has no idea about player selection? Hardly.

No the more plausible explanation would be we were a desperate club that had problems signing quality players with great character unless we paid massive overs at the time. So he had to roll the dice here and there. Now that he is in a position of strength and players would be willing to come to Parra at market value and maybe in some cases if we keep winning season in, season out, for slightly less.

So put a pin it if Jack unless you think that every player you ever thought would be great turned out that way? Hardly.

Cleary is currently top 5 half in game. Unsure why people bagging him. He has taken his game to another level this season.

Hindy I would suggest that he is on par with the best in the game today.

Who could we have in front of him? DCE? Maybe on experience, but on ability, not by much if at all. Moses? Sure Moses is more gifted, but what they are producing week in week out is a split hair between them and he would probably get the nod over Moses at this stage due to his defense and cool head under pressure and SOO experience already.

Pearce has hardly set the world on fire this season and has actually dipped in performance for the first time in his career. Then the cupboard is fairly bare.

If we are thinking 5/8th's then sure there is one that stands out way above all else and even better then all the 7's because I think he really is a 7 anyway and that is Luke Keary. This player is the best the NRL has to offer as a play maker right now bar none. Also Munster is up there a 5/8th, but in my opinion I would rather Cleary or Moses in my team then Munster to guide them around.

So who else comes into this group? No one that I can see, so Cleary for mine is equal to best half in the game depending on what type of playmaker you prefer. The only one that is better at this stage is Keary and he is playing 5/8th.

Cleary is a limited plodder, I doubt he has the skill set to take a side to a GF. He works better at Origin because he has so much talent around him and all he has to do is kick and tackle and little else.

Just on Nathan's defense...

2016 - 10% missed tackle rate
2017 - 12% missed tackle rate
2018 - 11% missed tackle rate
2019 - 12% missed tackle rate
2020 - 19% missed tackle rate

Not sure why the sudden drop in tackling form, but it is quite significant.

At his worse, Moses reached a shocking level of 21% (2017 the year he joined us from Tigers) but has improved that slightly since then, although not yet at the best Cleary has been able to deliver.

Could be because teams are now targeting Cleary instead of turn style Maloney.

Nearly all halves have their limitations in defense due to them having the biggest target on their backs by the opposition players.

The point is he is still equally, in my opinion(excluding Keary) the best half in the game at present. You may not like him for whatever reason, but the facts are the facts. I didn't say he was Thurston or Cronk. In fact the halves that are running around today are the worst batch overall that I have seen since I have been following RL.

The best ones aren't terrible, but there are no true superstar top of the shelf types at the moment. The best ones at present Keary included are just one shelf so to speak lower then the best ones of yesteryear.
