Rumours and Stuff

We can talk semantics all day, but telling a first grader that he'll be playing reggies all year even though the rookie being played ahead of him is really not a better option is a dog move. All clubs do it. Bringing a contract to end before its term is actioned by both sides is a fact of life. Sometimes it's convenient to both sides and sometimes not. We did it to Morts and Sandow to make them leave.

Regardless of the back-story you can't have your cake and eat it too. Don't be hating players for wanting out whilst you are simultaneously white-anting another player's career to make him move on.

The argy bargy of employment contracts is a thing, get over it. If the NRL are going to cap a player's earnings if he wants to move on, then what are they going to do about a club forcing a player out by putting his career in the meat grinder ?

Do you have a source for the assertion that Reynolds was told he'll be playing Reggies all year? He certainly played in reserves in 2020 (and 2019).

He's been brushed for a few years.

Unwanted Wests Tigers five-eighth Josh Reynolds says he is ready to walk out of Concord if an opportunity arises at another NRL side, after he was told by the club he would likely not play first grade in 2020.

There is also a threshold of a dozen FG NRL games that a player needs to get a UK visa, which is used as leverage..

Look how Ivan treated Mansour. A loyal servant who signed for unders just to stay at the club.
Let him know he will be in NSW cup in 2021 and to look elsewhere for an opportunity.
Clubs do it also.

Im not sure how it worked with Morts but it certainly didn’t work that way with Sandow.

He asked for a release during the season to take up an offer with an English club. Parra said no because the year wasn’t finished. Sandow then proceeded to play like absolute dogshit in the next game against Canterbury. Now Sandow was pretty dogshit in most games, but this one looked like he was doing it on purpose.

Parra gave in and released him the next week.
