I thought he should have played Origin tbh. 145m and 35 tackles a game is good numbers, and he's such a tough player. Big reason the Panthers went so far

True. I guess he is just one of those players who just keeps going, just continues to churn out the numbers. Similar to Mannah.Every club needs them.

Imo, around 6 to 8%.

His versatility may even bump it higher.

But I just love his attitude - he's a real competitor.

I'll never forget the try he saved against the Tigers earlier this year, when he had three Tigers to defend against, chased, made the tackle and forced the error.

A true champion.

I remember this happening, but in which game? The one we lost or the one we won? Also, which half? I just want to watch it again :D

It was laughable someone like Merrin missed out on Orgin while the media continued to jizz over a down right plodder like Plod Jackson. With that cancer Gallen gone Merrin should slot straight in at lock, i'm not holding my breath.

With Benji not in the retiring players photo from the Dally M's and likely not in the leaving players (either retiring or UK super league) lap around ANZ tomorrow where do we think he will end up?

I reckon us or Melbourne

The talk is that Slater will be fit 2017 and that Munster will play 6. If true, do they need Benji ? Do we need Benji ? Doe he offer more than Gutho ?

He was on $500k and knocked back $300k. I expect he'll want more than a 1 year deal as well.

ABC are reporting that James Roberts has checked himself into a Thai Rehab clinic.

Thai Rehab clinics seem to be the magic sponge to the NRL Integrity Unit. Forgive me Thai Rehab Clinic, for I have sinned.

There was an article yesterday saying he (Benji) has gone to the NRL with his TPAs all lined up getting approval for a low contract bumped up with these TPA's. The NRL approved it.

And I still have my doubts on Slater playing in 2017

OK lets assume that Benji plays 6 or 7 for the Eels. Who do you push into reserve grade assuming a fit squad ?

I reckon he will end up in Melbourne because I have my doubts Slater will play much (at all) in 2017. Or Taka to the bench if he comes to us

Carney comeback won’t wash with the NRL

THE NRL has blocked a move by Todd Carney to return to Australia next season – but the 2010 Dally M Medal winner hasn’t given up hope.

Carney’s manager David Riolo made preliminary inquiries to the NRL in recent weeks – and they have now ramped up following Carney’s decision to leave French club Catalans.

Carney was sacked by Cronulla following his infamous ‘bubbler’ prank in 2014 and is now suing the club for wrongful dismissal.

He has played at Catalans for the past two seasons but at 30, is keen for one last crack at the NRL.

The Dragons and at least one other club are reported to be interested, but getting the NRL integrity unit to register his contract looms as Carney’s biggest hurdle.

Announce it on grand final week and try to hide it from the hype of a game.

Not sure he wants to leave Sydney. I reckon he would pretty much accept anything now to get a start with a Sydney club.

It's probably not all about money now ( especially with his TPA's), probably more about proving people wrong and finishing his career on a high note.

Benji can be the backup, cover if Gutherson doesn't work out.

It's not like he has many options

We can packup his trophy wife and live in the south of France for 3 seasons - Catalan Dragons.

Not the end of the world TBH.

I think he wants to stay in Sydney simply because otherwise he will lose his media momentum.

Why can't Benji just accept that his time is up? He goes ok in the media From what I've seen and is not a smartarse which seems to be a requirement these days. Give me Sterlo any day before Matty Johns, Fletcher and Hindmarsh.

I get the impression that he feels that footy is all he knows and he has it in his head that he will be lost without it and not really know what to do.

Obviously he would have decent options post footy but it is obviously more in his head than reality.
