The key to a top 4 side seems to be some big starting middle forwards with a creative hooker:

Storm - Bromwich, Mclean, Smith
Raiders - Vaughan, Paulo, Hodgson
Cowboys - Scott, Tamou, Talmololo, Granville
Sharks - Fifita, Gallen and Ennis (though Gallen is not big he plays above his weight)

BA doesnt want a flashy dummy half ... he wants a strong defender - degois is definitely that

Infact if it wasnt for our outside backs, we'd be as boring as batshit ... we dont have an attacking team
We attack on the edges so we just need a low mistakes dummy half who sends the ball the right way. In defence we move up quickly in the middle so we need someone to lead the line.

Add prior to the sharks ... he is their most underrated middle player

Intersting Brown is perhaps the most offloads in Game when consider Mins played. On par with Kasiano.

I didn't know the numbers Hindy, but I am not surprised at all. The guy is an awesome offloader that is why I am stoked that we singed him, not just for his aggression. Now if Arthur can get his fitness up and tame some of those silly penalties he may just turn out to be the buy of the season. We really have lacked a good second faze offloader since players like Hindy and Cayless retired. If people remember in 2009 when we made the GF, I think we were the number 1 offloading team that year or very close to it. That is what breaks up strong structured defenses and wins games when you do it right.

Also Vave is very good at the offload and fitness is the only thing holding him back too from being a very, very good player, as apposed to just a super sub type of player. He looks to be a very busy type too. Has energy and wants to get involved, but the fitness thing holds him back from developing further.

Hopefully these things can be addressed this off season and both these players can really up their game. I can't wait to see them in action for us. I'm excited.

Vave's about as busy as Junior Paulo. Good with the ball though, like Brown. Effective offloads aren't just about telling your players to chuck it out the back. Most players don't have the vision or the footy brain to know when (or where) to throw the offload and when to take the tackle.

Like I said Pou, fitness is what is holding him back, not that he is at the level of a 70-80 min player. But you can see his body language and constant following of the play during games, he wants to get involved, he doesn't take a hitup and then just stand around for a min or two waiting for his next go. He looks to go again, but he fades as time goes on due to fitness. He will be a very good contributor if we can get him to a level where he can knock out 60 odd mins regularly. That will mean that his abilities will enhance even further and be considered a go to man with the ball in hand.

As for your analysis on the offload, thanks for the bleeding obvious again. That is definitely one of your games strongest suits, that and the contrary point of view.

But I still love your work mate. Different strokes and all that. Cheers.

If I state the obvious it's because the point is obviously not that obvious to some people. As for the contrary opinion, it is to educate others that every issue is far more complex than can be fixed by silver bullet solutions and finding convenient scapegoats.

Offloads work for teams against big packs.
Not so much against mobile teams as they seem to be able to wait and adjust.
Scott has some silly offloads in him.

Offloads work against all teams no matter what size. It breaks up routine/structured defense. If you are a smaller more mobile pack as opposed to a big pack, then it comes down to who has the better team over all/gifted players etcetera. And if they are say very similar like say Penrith and Canberra, then luck, referees and desire come into it too.

But one thing for sure is that offloads are the biggest offensive weapon in rugby league by far to break up the tightest of defenses. That and a great kicking game win hands down.

Yes Scott does have some silly offloads in him. I find he has periods in seasons where he picks and delivers great moments to offload with very few errors and then he goes through periods where he can't buy a decent offload.

Scapegoats is where it's at homie. You should try it, it's almost as good as knocking one out brotha.

P.s.
That line goes well with my new gangsta avatar bra.

Which is why the likes of French should excel next year. Offloads and a clever short kicking game are even more dangerous when you have speed and vision in your backline. I think we started to prove that at least a bit this year towards the back of this year when french replaced Gordon at the back.

ABC are reporting that James Roberts has checked himself into a Thai Rehab clinic.

Thai Rehab clinics seem to be the magic sponge to the NRL Integrity Unit. Forgive me Thai Rehab Clinic, for I have sinned.

Yep. The packs with the mobility to be able to stay up around the ball until the tackle is completed are the ones who can turn your offload into a low percentage play. The big plodders who either don't get up in the first place, or who turn around and shuffle back when they're not involved in the tackle are the ones who leave space for offloaders to shine.
