Footy fans as a whole are stupid, and I'm no exception. The difference is I accept it and make an effort to understand the things that make no sense. Like how Ricky Stuart and Michael Maguire and Paul Green can be such shit coaches but still win premierships. I've decided coaches are just another of those positions (like elected political leaders) who are in place to give the impression of control over a whole lot of forces they don't actually control.

And players are the same. Why people go on about on about year wonders. Or rookies who flop after a great debut season. A lot of times the players has just had tape on him for everyone to study and shit him down.
Same goes for coaches. No doubt Green was a great coach. But perhaps couldn't change his game plan enough and he let players get stale. Didn't plan for future and signed to many older guys. The whole thing exploded.

I am a believer that you always need youth in your side and juniors mixed with experience. And always need 2 or 3 new additions to top 17 to keep things fresh.

BAs game plan will always be big bodies charging at defender not spaces. TPJ is someone who loves the collision. Seems a perfect fit to me. Sharon Woods is another BA is reported to be keen on. Big bodies and collisions is where it's at.

It certainly would be interesting what a quality settled team like the Eels and a coach who values fitness and effort over everything else could do for his game. At the moment he is very erratic and I don't think fit enough to maintain his aggression and power for the entire time he is out there and why he fades so often in games. If you could get him to settle down and play just straight hard football first and worry about all the other things later, who knows he may reach his undeniable immense talent.

But he is a merkin, so maybe he will end up like Corey Norman and never reach his potential.
