I have posted this before, but I think we should be seriously looking at Tolutau Koula from Manly. He is rated one of the best juniors from either Rugby League or Rugby. He is only 18 years old and just out of school and ear marked for great things. He was elevated to the top 30 this last off season and did his first preseason with the NRL squad.

He was the quickest player at the Sea Eagles till Saab arrived but he is lightning too. He broke the AAGPS Athletics Carnival Open Championship 100m record in a time of 10.58s at Sydney Olympic Park in 2019.

He is signed up with Manly till 2022, but that means we can offer him a contract from November this year. If Manly don't jump in and give him an extension like they did with X. Savage then we would be mad not to have a good hard crack at him. Manly have a very settled backline now so it may be a couple of years before this kid gets a look in with them. If we offered him a decent amount and the opportunity to be fast tracked into first grade as a carrot with a very good team, then who knows?

But we really do need that X factor(speed) in our team. He would do the trick nicely. I would stop with all these other fill in and depth signings that we are trying to make happen like A. Woods and the Milf if they are more then just for this season and try to get a kid like this who has unbelievable upside and potential. BTW Milf to me has lost a metre or two in instant acceleration, which is where the great ones do all the damage. He is a renowned bad trainer, so I would suggest he has brought that on himself.

Anyway, can someone like @Avenger please ask our club to take a serious look at this kid? He is the next real speedster star on the horizon. If we can get in early, we may have a chance to convince him that Parradise is where former Manly players can come to make their home, fortune and love this club, just like King Gutho has.

If Moses or Dyl Brown are ruled out of a semi against Panthers or Storm, who would you rather replace them?

will smith
Jakob Arthur

or

Milford?

if you choose Smith, then who is the better option as a 14? Lussick or Milford?

for what would likely be a sub $100k investment for 3 months, it really is zero risk.

if he doesn’t impress and earn his spot on the training field, then he will never play a game for us anyway

FFS....Milford is still quality. He is in a terrible side and copped it from everyone. I doubt he wants to be there. Imagine trying to play footy under his circumstances.
Milford is someone who could turn game on its head.

well, that was sort of my point

if he is targeted to play no 14 for us, then Lussick is the player to which we should be comparing him, not the other ones mentioned

Oh goody. This is something I expect of the Titans or Bulldogs or Dragons even.
Perhaps he's going to be the new tackling dummy?

Perhaps it won't be so bad. If we're down to Will Smith come finals we're dead anyway. Might be worth a try.

He's on $1 million a year, meaning $250k for 3 months. What's in it for the Broncos to pay much of that $250k?

They pay $100k, frees up $150k to front load an extension to someone they want to keep, or bring someone like Billy Walters who they have signed for next year over now

Brisbanes ship and season has sunk. Free up what can from guys who won't be there and gain an advantage for 2022.
If that means 125k saving for them then why not? If able to do this with 3 players they may have 350k extra.

I'm no mathematician, hindy, but I suspect you're not either.

I was suggesting even if we paid 125k or 150k for him the Broncos are still saving that amount and can try and use it for 2022. This season they only have the wooden spoon to play for so any saving is a bonus

Yeah but he's still quality. If it's along the lines of the Cartwright signing (it won't quite be) then it may work.
If he plays 14 it could work. Bit of an x-factor in attack. But then we signed Cartwright for a similar reason and BA hardly uses him anymore, which I really don't get. I would rather sign a centre to replace Waqa, who apparently has lots of speed and agility but never makes a break.

He's off contract next year. How can they make any savings for 2022? (Im also not a mathematician)
