It could also possibly affect next years salary cap as well as if he has no longer retired and is just an injured player, then his wage would be included in the cap with just some 2nd tier concessions for the long term injury. I'd say we have to settle with him

If I recall correctly, the NRL had to sign off on the retirement to make it official. If they have officially retired him, then we would have to apply to register his contract with the NRL to 'unretire' him. I find it quite unlikely that the club would attempt that.

But hasn't the club kind of got a point?

He retired, so therefore he can't take up his player option to play on.
I guess it depends on what the collective bargaining agreement says on the scenario, I'm tipping nothing...

As I said, it depends how the option clause was phrased. And exactly what was agreed in the deed of release.

It's a media beat up and most of you merkins have fallen for it again. He can't just turn up to training and say I'm part of your squad. He retired and the NRL have scraped him from the registered playing list. He is done and dusted as far as ever playing NRL again.

So if he simply just turned up, it would have the same effect as any of you merkins turning up and demanding to be part of the playing roster. It ain't gonna happen.

What will happen will be a monetary settlement of sorts through heated negotiations as would be expected. But this, "I will turn up to training", is just laughable stupid journalist hype shit. Click bait stuff.

You can't un-crack an egg.

Just doing a job? She treated the Mannahs appallingly and tbh she rarely had anything good to say about league but praised the AFL no matter what crisis or scandal they were facing. I had no time for her at all.

Feel sorry for her family as it is a terrible loss for them. Condolences to her children. But I wont miss her articles one bit!
Yep.

Just doing a job, mate. Just doing a job.

GG - there is no way the job description for a journo specifies that players who develop terminal cancer should be hounded and accused of alleged indiscretions which allegedly caused that cancer. If you consider that a journos job mate then you are kidding.

That is your description of what happened, mate. You don't really know what happened. You are letting your inherent dislike of someone cloud your judgement.

You can sit and bag turbo tom. But at 19 he is some special talent. Imagine if he was in the sharks team rather then a banged up Manly.

Bevans an excitment machine. But question still to be answered. Is he to small for fullback or wing? Isnt defense a big part of the game to?

Bevan is a different style. Just like munster is. And out of the 3 who would you chose. Munster lacks the class and magic of the other two but he is safer and tougher. Another special talent.

What you don't know (and I don't know) are the terms of his deed of release. The contract is not just an NRL instrument. The club's legal obligations to the player extend beyond the determinations of the NRL. So it is perfectly plausible that the NRL agree with the club, but the Supreme Court agrees with the player. And one of those is a superior authority.

But, of course, it could just be handbags at 10 paces at this stage.
