Bottom line Pou, stats only tell us one story. What they don't necessarily tell us is the positive or negative influence a player can have on a game. That is why I have been having a go at say a player like Tepai who not only has very average stats, but very little influence on a game other then going through the motions kind of stuff that most other forwards could easily do too.
If a player has below average or average stats, but on many occasions throughout a season has huge positive influencing moments on the field that can or do turn a game to his teams advantage, then that player is, in my mind, a good player and valuable to the team.
This is the type of player that Scott was for us this last season. Watmough on the other hand, had a terrible season overall contributing very little in the way of positive game moments. It was sporadic at best, with more low light moments then high point moments.
Scott pleasantly surprised me at his overall contribution to the team(not attack, but everything else) and his leadership qualities are a huge part of that, that Watmough showed very little of for us.
My verdict, price range to contribution ratio?
Watmough dud/fail. Scott success/pass.
