Bottom line Pou, stats only tell us one story. What they don't necessarily tell us is the positive or negative influence a player can have on a game. That is why I have been having a go at say a player like Tepai who not only has very average stats, but very little influence on a game other then going through the motions kind of stuff that most other forwards could easily do too.

If a player has below average or average stats, but on many occasions throughout a season has huge positive influencing moments on the field that can or do turn a game to his teams advantage, then that player is, in my mind, a good player and valuable to the team.

This is the type of player that Scott was for us this last season. Watmough on the other hand, had a terrible season overall contributing very little in the way of positive game moments. It was sporadic at best, with more low light moments then high point moments.

Scott pleasantly surprised me at his overall contribution to the team(not attack, but everything else) and his leadership qualities are a huge part of that, that Watmough showed very little of for us.

My verdict, price range to contribution ratio?

Watmough dud/fail. Scott success/pass.
You're basically just saying Scott played in a stronger team. And I agree, which is why he seemed so much better than his previous year with the Knights.

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have today announced the signing of Josh Plodman on a three-year deal.

Plodman joins the Eels after stints at the Brisbane Broncos and most recently the Gold Coast Titans. He has played 158 NRL games and achieved representative honours in 2012 and 2013 with New Zealand.

Head Coach Brad Arthur said that the signing of Josh Plodman would bring skill and versatility to the Eels backline from 2017.

“Josh brings tremendous NRL experience and can play anywhere from 1 to 6 which ensures our squad will have strong competition across multiple positions,” Arthur said.

“He has been a strong and consistent performer for the Titans over the past couple of years and he will provide a strong contribution to the club from 2017 and beyond."

Plodman joins Nathan Brown, George Jennings and Siosaia Vave as new signings for the Eels in 2017.

This announcement also follows the re-signings of Corey Norman, Danny Wicks, Kenny Edwards, Isaac De Gois, Brad Takairangi and Manu Ma'u.

Watmough was bad his first 4 games..Then he started playing well.
Watmough tired to hard imo. And more was expected of him then Scott.
Scott signing barely got a mention and so when he went well we all where suprised.

Brad comments it gives us good depth and competition for backlinr spots.
I hope he is a winger for us all players available that is.

If you can't compare the two players in different years then you should be having a go at all the people who claim Scott contributed more in 2016 than Watmough in 2015. I understand you're desperate to prove me wrong, and you're among a sympathetic little group so you're emboldened by it, but you can't have it both ways.
I never stated you couldn't compare, you actually said that while I just pointed out the flaw and hypocrisy of your argument. I have not supported either argument actually.
I strongly believe that Scott and Watmough have both contributed immensely to our change in culture but it is one of those intangibles that are difficult to measure.
As a leader I would say I prefer Scott on some level but that's a personal opinion. As a player I have never compared them, I clearly stated their differences in play rather then saying one is better. Scott is the best in his position at what he does, there is no better enforcer in the NRL but he doesn't make the meters that watmough makes. There is a reason Scott played 11 origin games and was exclusively a starter and there us a reason watmough played half his games off the bench. Doesn't make one better then the other just different, both are very much the same level of player but we probably have gotten more value out of Scott due to games played and cost etc
