Rheed is only staying to whiteant him to try to get his job when he retires. Something like that..

I doubt Rheed goes. He is off contract and a good young spine player. Do people think nobody would want him? Of course he would have offers amd interest from other clubs and I am sure Parra knew this. Probably why they haven't signed any new players. They will focus on what have and want first. As I said earlier Rheed will be kept in preference of Gutherson if push come to shove.

We were never going to keep the squad together. That's how the salary cap works. Retaining Arthur's was to limit the damage.

But will they? We can't seem to buy a marquee player to save their lives. Letting go of Reed, if it happens is madness. The best hooker we hsve had in a long while, and they let him walk

While not preferable we can afford to lose our fullback or 5/8. We have promising players in Russell/Arthur to replace them!

Point taken, but I think Reed will be hard to replace if he goes. Why can't we buy topline test players like other clubs do though? Is it bad management, bad scouting, do we not enwuire, or don't they want to play for us. The players you mention are all forwards, aoart from Gutho. Imo we desperately need speed in the backline. Plus we need another winger I reckon. Time will tell what hapoens I guess.

The problem is when we extended him prior to this year he looked more like a solid no frills hooker. His game went to another level. Had we thrown him 550k and he stayed at 2020 level he is on way overs. It is risky. He has come good and will get that now. I reckon he didn't want a long contract knowing he could get more and why he negotiated only 2yrs at the time. I dare say the Eels offered 3yrs but wasn't interested. Yes they should of attempted to extend come rnd 13 this season before signing N.Brown back up.

Is it just me, or is it crazy to have all these players off contract at the same time?

It's in a good position because we have so many expensive merkins off contract. But given a few of them are currently on unders it's likely that we won't fit them all in after paying them what they're worth on their next contracts. We will need to let some walk and replace them with the next Gutherson/Penisini/Drown/Nrown/Niukore/Mahoney/Papli'i/whichever merkin was nothing before joining our club. We can at least be confident we can get value out of nuffies.

Nah, which of our wingers would you be happy to have at Fullback in place of Gutho? Sivo perhaps?

Oh, bear in mind, wingers that move to fullback and are good enough to be first choice fullback, want first choice fullback money.

My comment still stands. The winger might not be a good fb but he'd be an even worse hooker. Hooker has become a very important & specialist position, just about as important as a half these days.

I agree. There would be atleast 10 players in the comp who play in backline who would be good at fullback. Staines,Burton and Critchton all could and where at same club.
Also look at how Ropana ripped us apart and barely played fullback. And how guys like Laurie and Reece Walsh stepped in and killed it. Rare a hooker is much good for first few seasons.

Papa was a good one. So was N. Brown. Gutherson was good but took a few years to get going. I feel if we have Moses,Mahoney,D.Brown we can always build around that.
