As the Retention Committee continue to throw darts at the board to come up with offers, the song playing on loop in the background is “Pressure” by Queen.

Although Pou will argue , as he does to every comment, allowing the contracts to expire at the same time and then seemingly doing little to extend them in the season , falls back on the hierarchy. Can’t blame the coach for this one, hello HOF.
Never the coaches fault hey Del lol.

But we didn't "let him go" - we refused to match the crazy money that the Tigers offered, which is sensible cap management.

On that deal, he is being paid more than current NSW prop Payne Haas - that is crazy to me.

I'm not a huge fan of Brad Arthur, but one thing he has shown time, and time again, is he has an ability to extract the best out of his forwards.

Nathan Brown played for NSW under BA's watch, as did Paulo.

RCG became one of the from props of the NRL under BA.

Why wouldn't I believe that he can unearth another diamond in the rough? He certainly has the runs on the board.

And given how money-driven Papali'i had proven to be, this idea that we didn't extend him early in the season makes little sense to me - it seems logical, given Papali'i's desire to chase the cash, that he would have knocked back any offers, to test his worth on the market to get top dollar.

My only complaint is that Papali'i's exit - at this stage - perhaps robbed us of a chance to keep Niukore.
I hope you’re right mate. After next season we’ve lost Papali’i and Niukore and likely to lose Matterson as well. That’s a lot of good forwards we’ll have to replace for what is one of the best packs in the competition.

Why because he chose to go elsewhere???? Maybe the coach and our club aren't the shit hot destination we think they are. We lost the most improved player in the whole of the NRL to Madge and the Tigers for around 50k a season. What does that say about the boards knee jerk reaction to extend a spoon winning 8 season coach that can't get us passed week 2???
You don't know how much the difference was, but don't forget he's gone to one of the weakest clubs in the NRL. Winning obviously isn't high on his list of priorities, which would explain why his career has been so inconsistent.

Where in my reply did I say that?? We offered a more than fair offer, if we didn’t try and lowball him in the first place we might not have had to get even close to the Tigers offer.

My main point was that the knee jerk reaction to extend the coach hasn’t really worked has it??? Maybe the players know how limited the coach and his staff really are. The old “ FrOnT lOaD dA eFfOrT aReA’s and “ ChAsE dA cOlLiSiOn” gets you to week 2 but doesn’t really gets you to challenge with the big boys………
And you reckon he chose the Tigers because of their coach?

He’s here next year mate, you’ll have to wait another year before you can bag the shit out of him and death ride him. I know it’s going to be tough but I’m here for you.

If we had a million dollar player and we still failed you would use the excuse that we can only afford backup players because we spend too much of our cap on the million dollar player. In fact I’m certain that’s what you did when we had Jarryd Hayne post 2009. So again you can’t have it both ways. You can’t say we have no star players and when we do have an out and out super star say that we can’t win because they’re tying up our cap.
The loss of Niukore doesn’t hurt so much because he wanted to go back to New Zealand but to have a guy come over and announce himself as one of the premier forwards in the game only to see him get poached by another club really stings. How did it ever get to that position? I didn’t say we lost the guys because they were origin players. I’m saying because we barely have any origin players in the side then tying up a week 2 team shouldn’t be this problematic.
There was also alot of bad management involved in where we finished. If we hadn’t clowned around and finished 6th we could have ended up on the other side of the draw and made a better run.
Comparing a finals run to a coin toss is a poor analogy. A coin toss has a 50% chance of being heads or tails. Not all clubs have an equal chance of making the grand final.
I’m growing tired of fans and the media saying we don’t have the side to compete and then seeing us struggle to not only keep the same below elite level side but lose players from it. People need to make up their minds.
Well I think it's accepted that if Mahoney had played against the eventual premiers in the finals we would've made up that one point difference we ended up losing by.

But Mahoney's not a genuine superstar and neither are any of our best players. However they are very good first graders, and we have a lot of them. If we had a genuine superstar ($1M+ quality) we would be able to afford fewer players in that $500k-$700k category.

We had one when Hayne was in his prime and all you wanted to do is get rid of him so we can have more quality across the park. We have that now. So what’s your position now?

Hiney, pull back from Your usual comment, the pressure falls on HOF, it’s his responsibility to get things in order and present to the Retention committee. Think we need to at least to acknowledge where the issue starts, most coaches don’t want to lose starting 17 players, thus the comment re the coach.

So this is all MON’s fault?? Bahahahaha maybe you should pull back from your usual comments.

This is on the entire club, the retention committee, HOF, coach and board who all thought by keeping Bea all the players would be sooooooo happy they would take unders and we would all live happily ever after in week 2 of the finals. Even the coaches pet is holding out and causing the club all sorts of trouble. The strategy is a bust and they all need to come up with another plan. Coach included.
