We lost by two to the premiers in an elimination final. We're not a top four team but easily top eight. If your only points on the continuum are premiers and shit then we're shit. Personally user it as a lot more granular than that.

This year we were a 10% chance of winning the comp. Next year we're a 15%-20% chance. That might be as good as it gets for a club like ours, but plenty of teams have won premierships with only a 20% chance. You just need some luck in the day. Stay patient. The problem for our club is that since 1986 we've been a 0% chance of winning the comp most years. You're conflating our current strength with that, probably because you only see the premiers/shit binary. Do you look at each year's premiers in hindsight and think they were the only team that could've won it? If so you're wrong.
Why do you think we’re a better chance of winning the competition next season as opposed to this season? Is it because we lost by 2 points to the eventual premiers this season? Would things be different if we’d lost by 50? If our team that lost by 2 was well coached then we wouldn’t have finished sixth and been in a position to get knocked out in week 2. Last season we were a top 4 side yet I’d argue this years team had a higher ceiling. So how can you say this years side shouldn’t have finished top 4 and been better than a week 2 finals side?

When we signed RCG,MATTERSON,BLAKE there was always going to be some backlash.

It's a shame we lost a few good players but as some have said we have lost far better players ffs.

If it wasn't for Corona Rheed would of also missed over 2 tha in 2020.
Not suggesting he is injury prone but in 3.5yrs he has had 2 quite serious ones.

I'd also batter him now for 80mins a game and no rest unless its a finals game and it may benefit us.
I don't know how this strategy would help us win the 2022 premiership, or has that ship already sailed?

I was being sarcastic. We have a good side for 2022 and nobody knows our team for 2023. This Hands kid may be even better then Rheed.

For me it’s a culture issue as well. If our club culture was strong enough - no player would ever leave us for the dogs, panthers or tigers.

The history and local rivalry should be so etched into their heads that they hate the mere hearing of their name, let alone consider wearing their jersey.

That's a little archaic...

It's a business, and players are independent contractors - why wouldn't they go to the highest bidder?

They only get 15 years - at most - to milk footy dry.

Why waste time earning less, when some desperate club will pay you stupid amounts of money?

Would certainly soften the blow but players are supposed to sign with other clubs after winning a comp not before!

True,

But didnt bother Penrith regarding couple of their stand out players

Burton was gone before a ball was kicked this year

Capewell signed well before the finals

Burton would have gone anyway because he’s stuck behind Luai and Capewell had his value increased because he was picked for origin last year and Penrith made a grand final.

I’m not Mahoney’s biggest fan and think he’s replaceable but f**k you can be a predictable apologist f**kwit for any situation. Our team could all go down in a plane crash and you’d find something positive about it.

People have survived plane crashes before. Are you saying that there's no chance after the 'fasten your seatbelt' sign is illuminated?

The best hookers are fast out of dummy half. Api,Cook, Grant.
Yes there has been other good hookers but the best ones job is to dart from dummy half. Its nice if they can kick but others in the team can do that. Only one player is capable of catching forwards offside or finding holes in the middles and that's your hooker. When Jack Granville was at his peak it was when he had a run game. What happened once he slowed up? He was seen as garbage. He still had a great pass and could tackle and kick.

I would agree which made Cameron Smith being the best hooker of all time while playing in slow motion even more amazing.
