Well that was a great read of the last 8-9 pages.

Proof about contract values is hard to obtain, however I have it on good authority that we offered Mahoney $550k per year for 3 years and there was some TPA money in addition to that. 55 hours ago (from now) he was undecided and was stating his preference was to stay at Parra. The Bulldogs were told on Monday or Tuesday that their offer was not accepted and yesterday they came back with a large increase that we decided was too high to match. Reed spent last night trying to reach a decision and this morning advised his manager to accept the larger offer from the Dogs. I don't know or care what that amount was and to be honest, I don't care what our amount offered was. If as a club we made a decision on the top amount we would offer him and stuck to that, then I am glad we are not letting players and player managers such as Ayoub screw us over. Reed has only his own future to think about and as Barry and others have stated, only a limited time to secure his earnings. I know he wants to own a gym in the future (which footballer doesn't) and he probably sees this contract as the way to do it.

Personally, I put more value into loyalty than others might, but it doesn't mean I begrudge someone who chases the bigger pay day. It just sux when it happens to your club. As a professional, I expect him to give 100% every time he pulls on the blue and gold in 2022 and would be shocked if he doesn't.

I can’t blame him for taking the cash. He’d be stupid not to. We just didn’t value him as much as the desperate dogs.

I’d like to get Starling.

He doesn't deserve the jersey anymore. We backed him when he was nothing, I expect it to be reciprocated. And you never leave for the arch enemy. Our golden generation never did when Manly came knocking, neither should he if he is on the brink of becoming part of his own premiership winning generation.

He will regret this and I personally cannot wait until he faces us in that despicable Bulldogs jersey to the roar and boos of his former home crowd that adored him.

Mate I will be booing him as loud as anyone else in 2023, but cheering him as loud as anyone else in 2022.
Hell, I even cheered Watmong when he wore the Blue and Gold.

You're as delusional as the club if you think players should stay and play for us for $100k less a season.

I said 'World Beater'. How does that get turned into 'Game Breaker' or 'X Factor'?

He's elite. He controls contests. He's a winner. Dare I say it, he's a world beater.

I don't know what you pair are even trying to argue.
Who decides what the definition of world beater is? You?

Plenty have. Nathan Hindmarsh was offered a shit load more than we offered in his prime and he stayed.
Yes, but we offered him probably what he was worth, others just offered ridiculous overs.

Anything less than something that starts with a 6 is lowballing Mahoney, and he knows it.

If we weren't prepared to pay him something that at least started with a 6 we can't expect him to stay.

To be honest in the current climate, something beginning with a 7 is not overs for probably one of the top 5 hookers in the game.

Edge backbones who can't tackle, Kikau and Leilua, are reportedly going to get $800k and $700k respectively. Niukore is getting something that starts with a 6! In fact Niukore and Mahoney are likely to earn around the same for 4 years from 2023....

With his TPA's he was exactly getting something with a 6 in front of it. So I ask again, where the f**k is his loyalty?

What relevance is the TPA? Technically he should get it whether he plays for Parra or Dogs.

In any case, you can't expect players to stay for $100k less than what someone else would pay them. Particularly when we would show no loyalty to the player when it no longer suited us to pay the player that much.

I'll use myself as an example. Let's say for eg I'm a mad Parra fan and own a crypto exchange business. Why would I offer it to a player that plays for the Dogs ? You realise I can make it conditional?

Not true mate. A TPA cant be arranged or introduced by a club but there is nothing to say it cant be linked to a player playing at a specific club. I know of a Parramatta and Hills based business that would happily offer a TPA to a player who plays for Parra because they get value out of the local team aspect, but would never pay a TPA to a player who played elsewhere.
