I'll use myself as an example. Let's say for eg I'm a mad Parra fan and own a crypto exchange business. Why would I offer it to a player that plays for the Dogs ? You realise I can make it conditional?
You realise technically the TPA is not allowed if it is contingent on him playing for a particular club though.

Not true mate. A TPA cant be arranged or introduced by a club but there is nothing to say it cant be linked to a player playing at a specific club. I know of a Parramatta and Hills based business that would happily offer a TPA to a player who plays for Parra because they get value out of the local team aspect, but would never pay a TPA to a player who played elsewhere.
Technically NRL rules say a TPA can't be an inducement for a player to play for a particular club though.

💥 How the Bulldogs will be salary cap compliant for 2023 after Mahoney signing💥
📰Article from SMH

The Bulldogs will rely on up to five players graduating from their NSW Cup squad to fill NRL spots in 2023 in order to be salary cap compliant after landing Eels gun Reed Mahoney, arguably the biggest fish of a stunning recruitment drive.

As Parramatta count the cost of losing their third player in as many weeks, Canterbury prised Queensland State of Origin hopeful Mahoney from their western Sydney rivals in a mega four-year deal to fill their troublesome No.9 role.

Mahoney, who played for the Bulldogs as a junior, broke the news to Eels coach Brad Arthur on Thursday morning, less than a fortnight after back-rowers Isaiah Papali’i (Tigers) and Marata Niukore (Warriors) told the club they would be leaving at the end of 2022.

It is another blow to Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins, who had previously registered an interest in Mahoney while chasing Melbourne hooker Brandon Smith, with the NRL’s 17th team yet to sign a marquee player for their inaugural season.

Mahoney knocked back a three-year extension with the Eels to sign with the Bulldogs, having been spotted dining with club officials at Canterbury League Club earlier this month, where the 23-year-old was said to be impressed in his first meeting with coach Trent Barrett and chairman John Khoury.

Sources with knowledge of negotiations told the Herald that Mahoney has accepted a four-year deal at the Bulldogs worth bout $650,000 a season.

The Eels recently upped their offer, but were still close to $100,000 short in each year of the deal, as well as offering one season less than the Bulldogs were willing to table.

Canterbury general manager Phil Gould is believed to be comfortable with the club’s salary cap predicament for 2023, despite Mahoney’s signature coming a week after the Bulldogs secured Penrith back-rower Viliame Kikau on a four-year deal worth $800,000 a season.
Gould presented to the Bulldogs board on Thursday night and the club is forecasting as many as five players from their junior pathways and NSW Cup squad to be part of the top 30 roster in 2023.

They already have 21 players, including Mahoney and Kikau, on their roster for that year, along with options on the contracts of Jack Hetherington and Jeremy Marshall-King.

The Bulldogs announced it would end a partnership with Mounties, who were their NSW Cup affiliate in 2021, to bring their reserve grade team under the Canterbury umbrella next year, stressing the need to return to being a development club after a massive recruitment haul.

But there is likely to be at least one big name who will have to leave the kennel, with the club willing to release Nick Cotric, Luke Thompson and Corey Allan to clear space in the salary cap, with the former heavily linked with a return to his former home in Canberra.

Cotric appears the player with the most appeal to rival clubs, and the Bulldogs only have to show the NRL they will fit their squad under the salary cap before the start of the 2023 season, giving Gould plenty of time to move if needed.

And technically a club cannot approach a player or their agent before Nov 1 of the RL year that their current contract expires either.
Technically one party cant encourage another party to break a contract either (not specific to the NRL that one).

We all know it all happens though.

Still, technically it couldn't be made contingent on the player signing with a particular club.
Verbally it can be, and there can be conditional exit clauses in the event the player leaves said club (but they cant state that as the reason). Must live and work within 10kms of the TPA provider for example.

RCG is in his prime now. We already had him locked up for 2022. He will be 30 in 2023 and 32 by the time his extension finishes. That is not his prime.

And Mahoney is now one of the best hookers in the game about to enter his prime. We have f**ked up royally by not matching the Bulldogs 600k offer.

And Papalii was the 2nd rower of the year also about to hit his prime.

If we aren't going to spend good money on an excellent young 9 and / or an excellent young edge / middle forward capable of playing 80 minutes then our recruitment committee need to find a new calling.
Just pretend for a second that you don't know exactly how much the Eels and Bulldogs offered, because apparently you know all the details, is it possible there's an amount that the Bulldogs were willing to pay that would be stupid for us to match? And if so, how likely is this scenario?

Hunt is a much better player than Mahoney. He proved it in game three. You're making excuses for Mahoney not playing, meanwhile Hunt picks up man-of-the-match. Do you reckon Mahoney will get picked next year if Hunt and Grant are available? Will he become an Origin player at the Dogs?
Hunt is on double Mahoney’s price tag, is over 30 and has played over 200 first grade games. When Hunt was Mahoney’s age most of his games of NRL were as a 14. It’s not even comparable, if the club had of matched the dogs offer and even the years you would of been pulling your dick praising the club calling it great business because the can never do any wrong in your eyes it’s what you do.

You should run for the board you would fit right in.

I'll support him until he's gone. It's a business and nobody has done anything wrong. The Dogs, Parra and Mahoney all benefit. The media benefit too. The only loosers are the ones lapping up their narrative. It's just business.
Parra benefit as well?? Lol, spin spin spin.

Yet Pou wants to craft the narrative that the club was in control of the situation the entire time. The evidence seems to suggest otherwise.
What do you think it would look like if the club were in control? Re-signing everyone on unders? That is fantasy land mate. The best any club could do is sticking to its guns.

So far it looks exactly like that and there is only one thing that would make me think we might not be sticking to our guns, and that is if we decide to match this recent huge offer from the Dogs.

Remember, there's been no announcement about Mahoney, from either club. I reckon Mahoney/Ayoub have tried to generate a bidding war, and today's unofficial announcement is one big shot at the Eels. The Dogs have upped their offer and now the club gets to watch the fans frothing in rage. Will the club cave and match the stupid offer? If it's announced soon that Mahoney has re-signed it's a good indicator that we aren't in control. At least for this one. It's very exciting.
