Mitch Rein is an old journeymen. I am not excited about his signing and doubt he plays nrl unless we have our starting nine injured.

He won't be a difference maker. If he is in the side it's based on we are weaker cause someone's missing. Russel might be great and Dunster may improve. Naikuki and Laizou maybe NRL players also. Based on the Scott and Simmonson signings however I feel they may not be rated quite as highly by coaching staff.

Scott and Simmonson are NRL level. Sivo has his faults but is also NRL level. So where do they all fit in?

Yeah but some just aren’t good at it, Dugan had the stamina/work rate but nil playing making skills
Yeah true. But I think that's more about vision and risk profile than technical skill. Every player knows you're less likely to turn the ball over if you dummy and go yourself than if you pass it. Some players can't get past that and will only throw the pass in the most low risk situations, such as two on one vs a stationary fullback. Otherwise they'll prioritise beating the defender or getting a quick play-the-ball.

Will Smith couldn’t pass left to right. It’s why he had to turn around to compensate.
Maybe he just preferred to throw long passes to his most accurate side. It doesn't mean he couldn't do it the other way, just that he wanted to reduce the risk. Some of you merkins talk in absolutes when it's not called for. It impacts the way you think about the game and causes you confusion which manifests as outrage on the internet.

If I was a young footballer I'm sure my favourite position would be the one that pays the most too. As to what position he's played previously. In Harold Matts I think he started out on the wing then moved to the centres (Josh Tuipulotu was fullback and player of the tournament). Then in his 1 year of Ball he played centre. In 2020 he looked to be the Flegg fullback. Started out at centre for St Pats Blacktown but after 1 game was moved to fullback.

He's likely more suited to fullback but is equally adept at centre and wing, could also play in the halves if need be
Sure, but what about second roe?

I don’t think you understood what I said. I was saying when Will Smith had to pass left to right that he would turn around so he could use the right to left motion. That doesn’t reduce risk it increases it. You’re more likely to get blind sided and it takes longer to throw the pass. There’s absolutely no reason to do it if you can pass left to right properly.

Everyone can pass better to one side than the other. If it increases the accuracy of a long pass then it reduces risk.
