Everyone can pass better to one side than the other. If it increases the accuracy of a long pass then it reduces risk.
This is akin to telling a tennis player to run around their backhand to hit a forehand. Most tennis players have a better forehand than backhand as well. If they both aren’t up to a certain level then it will be a hindrance to their game.

Can tennis players move fast enough to make every shot a forehand? It's not the same. On a long shift with no defenders near it's no big deal for a player to catch-pass by swiveling to his good side. You see it all the time. I remember a famous play by the Johns brothers that had one of them make the same pass.
