It just doesn't make sense that they would pay more for Smith at 38 than when he was at his peak. He was in decline for the last half dozen years of his career. The Storm aren't silly enough to overpay anyone.

Interesting to hear Parra fans perspectives on Kafusi. Does have age on his side as most props don’t reach their peak till at least mid 20’s. I guess the fact we have Fifita playing his final year @850k makes Kafusi seem like a reasonable buy. Only time will tell I guess.

The one circumstance in which you'd do it is if you 'expect' the player to get medically retired and backload the deal in an ultimately salary cap efficient manner.
