You are a man who likes excitement. NFL is all about big plays. But it has plenty of floors. Main one being there is 10,000 rules and you could blow a penalty on every play if you wanted and call a hold or interference.

NRL I feel is a slow burn. And relaxing to watch. Not as exciting as NFL but easier to watch.

One rule that needs to be changed tho is try scorer should kick off. Sides who score usually have already had a lot of possession. They've been rewarded with points. Games can be taken away with a 15min period of possession and ruin the other 65mins based in one side not getting the ball.

No I never saw that game. I am not that into NFL. I watch college and almost all the games have big play making and thrilling passing in behind the defense that is risky due to the threat of interceptions, or running backs slicing through off on a big run, or defenders making a big play. The beauty of the game is just about every snap one of the two teams wins and sometimes it is a big exciting win and then there is the first down wins or forcing the team to punt. Basically there is a lot of intermediate winning and losing in the game.
In RL there is not enough winning and losing. It is sort of an arm wrestle between 2 dudes of equal strength and so the arms remain in the middle a lot.
That is new as well. The game use to have a lot of winning and losing.

It don't think it is the number of rules that creates the potential for a lot of penalties to be called (there really aren't that many rules compared to RL). It is more the number of contests per play. Basically there are 11 men on each side 100% involved in the contest on every play and more to the point each of them is involved in a one on one contest (though the linemen are double teamed etc). So that means you could possible find an infringement somewhere.
I think of Gridiron as the code of rugby that became popular by changing its rules gradually but enormously. RL SHOULD do the same gradually. R should just stay bound to its boring roots.
