Development players and NSW cup players can play NRL after round 11. Same/same Poo so your argument is void. My prediction remains El Zakem to be our first rookie to debut in 2022.

Blokes on part time contracts are well behind the eight ball. More importantly, they are deemed unsuitable for a top 30 or development slot by every NRL club. That shows where they are ranked, not just by their current club.

Not that they can't turn into fairytale late debutantes like Davey and Makatoa, but it's not looking good. El Zakhem is 24 this year. Hands will be 23 and Moretti 22. None of them are too old, but most NRL players at Hands' and El Zakhem's positions had debuted already by their age. Importantly, most NRL players never drop out of full time professionalism from the moment they're too old for Flegg.

I think Moretti will be 21 this year not 22. For some reason I thought he was only 19 or 20.

Hands was injured last year so cut his chances otherwise I heard he debuts. He only just turned 22 late December.

I think due to lack of NSW cup its made it harder for guys who are about the 19/20 age mark during that period. Not much time to play, develop and impress.
Agree on ElZakhim. By age 24 you should of had a fee games. I doubt he plays NRL.
And with Hands and Rodwell I reckon they might become just NRL players based on what you've said. But hardly the type that we will be begging to keep hold of.

I notice Tom Starling has re-signed with Canberra for another two years. Does this mean he's been cleared by the NRL to play this year? And, if so, when is Hodgo coming?j
