I think in view of what has been written about Semi, he probabaly does deserve his own thread.

So.................

Lets keep the rumours in here and the facts in a Semi thread which means they have to be sourced, or suffer the wrath of El Deleto

cheers

How old are you merkins? I've never heard of these people.

This shit started from some reference to the mid-80s Suzanne Vega song 'Luca'. Marlene Dietrich is much older, but she is the subject of another 80s Suzanne Vega song 'Marlene on the Wall'. So, we're either old enough to have heard the songs in the 80s, or maybe we just heard them on some classic hits station.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...rramatta-eels-resignings-20160702-gpx1aj.html

Corey Norman's drugs drama is unlikely to cost him a contract extension, with Parramatta poised to re-sign the star playmaker and a host of his teammates to new deals.
The Eels have snared Manly prop Siosaia Vave on a two-year deal and also brought back grand final halfback Jeff Robson just before the June 30 transfer window shut. However, the club's main focus is on retention and up to half a dozen players are in the process of being upgraded or extended.
Kenny Edwards, Brad Takairangi, Isaac De Gois and Danny Wicks have either agreed to terms or are in the process of doing so, giving the embattled club some much-needed stability on the field. However, the biggest name off contract is Norman, one of the top contenders for the Dally M medal after a strong start to the year.
Norman's management initially rejected a $1.8 million, three-year offer to remain with the blue and golds, although the negotiating landscape changed after he was allegedly caught with MDMA – also known as ecstasy – capsules and muscle relaxants at The Star casino in May.
That incident, coupled with the consorting notice that resulted from the infamous evening, resulted in negotiations being put on hold. While there is still some legwork to be done – the Eels are unsure how much money they'll have to spend until the NRL finalises its salary cap sanctions – the club wants to retain Norman and he wants to stay.
The dramas have scared off most of Norman's potential suitors and also reined in his asking price at the Eels. However, both parties have few options and a deal is expected to be signed after his court proceedings.
Strike back-rower Kenny Edwards, who has filled in at five-eighth in the absence of troubled former skipper Kieran Foran, has had his deal extended until the end of 2018. Edwards has had a colourful past, but has proven to be a handful for opposition defences in his most consistent season yet. The 26-year-old was already signed until the end of next year, but has now had his deal upgraded and extended.
Likewise, Takairangi, has proven himself a useful addition to the team since making the switch from the Gold Coast two season ago. The rangy centre is on the cusp of Kiwis selection and will also extend his stay from 2017 to 2018.
De Gois, now the starting hooker after Nathan Peats was released to the Titans, has re-signed for two more seasons, while prop Wicks is also staying put after an impressive second stint in the NRL. Earlier this year, the Eels extended forwards Kaysa Pritchard, Daniel Alvaro and Alex Twal.
Robson is the last halfback to guide the Eels to a decider, whether they lost to a Melbourne side that was subsequently stripped of the title for salary cap rorting. Robson will turn 34 in August and this year may be his last, but there were several clubs keen to sign him up before June 30 due to his poise and experience.
His former clubs, Manly and Cronulla, discussed adding Robson to their squads but were unable find the salary cap space required. The veteran playmaker was keen to return to Sydney for family reasons and the Warriors granted him a release on compassionate grounds.
Vave has been a solid contributor to the Sea Eagles this year and will help to fill the void up front created by Junior Paulo's shift to Canberra.
The Eels want to extend the contract of Semi Radradra but the domestic violence allegations levelled against the winger complicate the situation.

So in summation we now (or shortly will) have locked in

Wicks to 2018
De Gois to 2018
Taka to 2018
Edwards to 2018
Vave to 2018
Norman to 2019

Great to see the boys staying put despite the rubbish they've have to put up with externally This year.

Would love to see an extension for Ma'u on that list, but I'm concerned his manager won't be pushing him to do that.

We need M'au to somehow want to stay together with this playing group, that will be worth more than his manager's satisfaction or otherwise with the club.

Moves to squeeze Foran out of Eels

The Semi Radradra situation has swamped the big decision by Brad Arthur and the Eels to give Kieran Foran a breach notice and rip the captaincy away from him. Let's not mess around, everyone involved in this situation can see it for what it is: the first step in an attempt to breach Foran out of the club.

Foran is an intelligent man – he can see what is going on, and his agent, George Mimis, has been around the block too many times to have the wool pulled over his eyes.

It would appear the relationship between Arthur and Foran, which was almost like a father-son bond, is fractured.

As this column reported, Foran walked into a recent meeting with Arthur fearing he would be sacked. He now knows that is a reality.

But here is the difficult thing to comprehend. We told you a few weeks ago that Foran's recent visit to a mental health clinic was his second in the past six months. He was treated just after Christmas, spending three weeks under supervision. And straight after that he was thrown into the captaincy role at the Eels. The step from getting that kind of treatment into leadership of a team is a huge one – and you have to wonder what kind of consideration was given to that.

As an outsider, it seemed to be the most obvious choice you could make, but club officials must have had doubts. And now, as Foran struggles with depression and other mental issues, he has been penalised for not being the leader the club needed and wanted him to be.

I'd be horrified if Foran wasn't being smothered with support and care, but to issue him with a breach notice while he is in this state would indicate he is either on the way out or rejecting the support he is being offered.

There is also the burning issue of the way Foran carried the injury into the match against Newcastle in round 12. There is a thought that has caused a split between Foran and the club. Whatever the case, Foran's wellbeing is what is really important. He has been close to the edge for some time and he needs ongoing support.

Hayne barriers

Jarryd Hayne is being touted as the Eels signing-in-waiting and while that would be a wonderful feel-good story, there are some realities that need to be dealt with. When he departed the NRL for the NFL, Hayne said he was disillusioned with the "suburban" nature of the game. He has taken his talent to the world and loved it.

Hayne is well and truly over the media who cover the NRL and you can't imagine he'd rush back to become the biggest story in town again. Hayne would need other marquee players to be at the club so it would not be the Hayne show.

Sure there is Michael Jennings, but there is severe doubt about the other genuine star back Radradra running out for the Eels in 2018.

For Hayne to pocket the kind of money he deserves there would be no room for Foran.

And don't discount the relationship that Hayne's agent, Wayne Beavis, has with the Eels. Beavis certainly doesn't owe the Eels too many favours after the club's recent salary cap scandal.

It is by 20 games.

The difference being the tax rate in France is 8%, in Australia for that level of income is 48%.

He'd need to be on over $1m to get the same $$ in his pocket

That is incorrect- Sports stars have a special tax rate as its only for a short period-I will ask accountant next week what it is exactly. But its less then a company TAX of 30% I'm pretty sure!
