Did he just take up his player option for 2023? I suppose he could have rejected it and immediately be on the market. Good start but more to come hopefully as November will come soon enough.A one year extension? What’s the point of that?
Because he thinks he can get more money if he negotiates in November for 2024+ than if he signs somewhere now for 2023+.A one year extension? What’s the point of that?
I see. He is just serving his role as the perfect backup half until JA is ready.Just time for ja to be ready

Of course I've had a hard week. I've been sifting through the shite you post around here.... FFS
Spot on. He’s an elite defensive half but there comes a time when you need to start producing in the attacking aspect of the game. If it’s not this year then I’m happy for him to start negotiating for 2024 and we can look elsewhere. It's a risk for him also. Right now he could get a decent deal. If he stagnates this season and doesn't improve I reckon plenty of clubs and fans will change their tune on how high his ceiling is.
At the moment people still think he could be elite. If in 2022 he does no better then his last few years I reckon he will be seen as just a standard NRL half that goes ok with a chief play maker.
I'm sure he's backing himself to be better at 22 than he was at 21. You'd be mad not to. Look at how Mahoney and Papali'i improved last year, in the year they turned 23. For a regular first grader under 24 a breakout season is always a big possibility. If it hasn't happened yet (like with Drown) you should assume it will. It's a risk for him also. He's probably getting $600k from us ffs. That plus a chance to go to market in November is worth plenty more than locking in $700k for multiple years. Even if he has another season like the last one he will be worth $700k+ next year. Without being an elite playmaker he is still a solid first grader with at least half a dozen of his best years in front of him. If he becomes an elite playmaker he's looking at $1.2M+ as early as 2024.He would get 700k from some clubs right now I think. Another season like his 2021 and I just don't see that figure. The sample size would be to large and to many clubs would cha get opinion on how far he can go

I'll be honest I thought Brown looked more dangerous in his first season. I thought WOW this kid is going to be good. And he is solid but I don't think he is in Moses class.
Moses has worked on his game. But he was still showing brilliance from day one.
As far as Mahoney goes I think it's debatable what improved him so much.
Yes partially his own game but Jnr and RCG had almost career best seasons. Papali'i was amazing and Marata played the best he has. Our forward pack in 2021 was at its best in about 20yrs.
It isn't like he was carving up with constant 20mtr+ darts. His biggest weapon was his short pass to a forward from 1mtr put when the defense was gassed and taking more kicks. He always had a solid kick game. If anything he just become more comfortable in his role.
I think Mahoney's best asset is just good clean passing and decision making from DH.As far as Mahoney goes I think it's debatable what improved him so much.

They're totally different players and Gutho steals heaps of Brown’s try assists. (For that matter, every TA Rheed gets is one that the halves have potentially missed out on.) Dylbo is perfect for our team.I'll be honest I thought Brown looked more dangerous in his first season. I thought WOW this kid is going to be good. Dummy halfwhy does D-H change to "Fake"?
