The game is faster, he has slowed down, lost a lot of his natural lateral movement and is injury prone.

Hmmm...remind me again why we would sign him and don't give me experience? We have plenty of that and getting more and more of it as every game passes by. Besides will he be healthy long enough to help out with all that said experience on the field? Probably not.
His lateral movement is fine, or he wouldn’t be playing centre. He tackle success rate is 86% which isn’t great (but not terrible either), however he is playing in pretty average side along with a lot of changes in the halves. Additionally probably the best centre in the game Manu’s rate is 85% (Olam is 82%, Burton 85%). So his lateral movement is fine….... ..

Yeah he had injury problems but he played 22 games last year so he looks to be over them.

And his main strength is his attack. It’s great, he is is a strong carrier of the ball. He averaged 15 runs / 122m / 3.8 tb / 1.3 offloads. Manu is better 16 / 141 / 4 Tb / 1.2 but not by much and he is worth double. Olam is 13 / 125 / 3.8 / 0.9 Burton is 11 / 109 / 2.5 / 0.4….

so while he isn’t as good as Manu, he is potentially better then the next 2 top centres in the game in Burton / Olam (especially when you consider they played in better sides / with better players)

All the evidence points to him being a pretty good centre which we don't need.

He's still fast and agile for an edge forward, and still powerful for any position. Did you see him play last year? He's still a beast.

It's only 4 games because it's not his best position. Just because he is injury prone and slowing down doesn't mean he will be a good edge forward. How much would you pay him to play out of his natural position?
He played edge forward in the under 20s.

Yeah, stats are one thing, but observation is another when being assessed by keen judges like Hindy and me. I have to admit though that I can't remember watching him last season and I am just going off what his last few seasons before 2021 had been like and what I expect to have happened to him since his horrific injury run.

So I will reserve my final judgement till I see him play a handful of games. But even if he does play better then expected, the injury thing is always going to be there and of major concern.

I think it is still hard to replace Marata and Paps.
In particular if we get injuries and our depth is tested.

Another youngster needs to step up to replace Kaufusi.

If we get Bird, it replaces one of them.

Atm, for 2023, we are down Matts, Marata, Paps and Kaufusi
I was very impressed with Stone in the trial. Looked a better player to me. Could be we are losing him as hes about to develop into a regular NRL Player. Bummer.

Remember when I saId JFH would be a top 5 prop in game Ram? Now I claim Stefano will play origin this year.
Our side is ageing. The forward pack is great for 2022. It will be fine for 2023. But come 2024 and 2025 we are going to have a pair of old slugs on HUGE coin with Moses and Brown in perhaps their prime years as far as a combination goes.
2022 is our best shot. I feel 2023 -2026 is the peak out halves combo together will be. But 2 of those years will be ruined by expensive old forward with not much left in the tank.
2023 lets hope we find some good replacements for what's left. I feel like the next 2 season will be our best.
I also felt for the best chance of a title we had to take a hit in 2023 and build for 2024 and 2025. And that meant letting one of our start props go.

Anyhows I hope I am wrong and both play at a high level till their contracts end

Agree. Always liked him and raved about him. But reality is at best he probably is just an average NRL player. And they are a dime a dozen.
