Well no, it means he was versatile enough that he became an NRL centre despite barely playing there as a junior. Plenty of quality edge players could play multiple positions. What about Bird's game do you think makes him unsuitable to edge forward, and why do you think NRL coaches selected him there (or anywhere else)?
Did he play origin at edge or 6? I can't be f**ked looking it up anymore. He could have six or seven years as a decent player but he was once a shining star and shit happened so he's obviously no good.
Or he could play in the forwards where it's less important.
I thought the only NRL coach that selected him as edge forward was Griffin. Who was the other one? I don’t think he’d make a decent edge forward because he is quite small for the position and the less space he would have in attack wouldn’t give him as many one on one opportunities as he gets at center. His lack of size and extra defence he would have to do would further nullify his attack.
Is he Wade Graham size?
Possibly. He’s also Tom Opacic’s size.

What? Lol you and the media. Where did I write him off based on media shit? I said in a post yesterday he’s a good center but we don’t need a center. There are a number of very good centers who I wouldn’t want as an edge forward. I just don’t like playing guys out of position and paying big $$ for it.

He played centre in under eights.
