Where do people think Ponga should go? He wants a title. Is he best at the Knights?
I feel if they can get the mo pney together Brisbane would be a great choice. They have great forwards and just need to fix the spine. With Ryenolds and Ponga I reckon they'd be a genuine threat.

If he wants to win a title he needs to take a paycut. He doesn't produce consistently enough that i can't see newcastle winning a title. I see ponga similar to hayne can do the most freakish things but floats in and out games. His defensive positioning is iffy to say the least at the back when compared to the elite.

Not sure with Brisbane either i think Reynolds will be solid and serviceable for the broncos but its a big ask for him to lift the titanic so to speak which is the broncos.

He probably only has 1-2 quality years left if injury free.

Which leaves Redcliffe if Clint Eastwood can get munster over the line i reckon they would be closer then the other 2.

I don't think Newcastle is the best spot for a title. I feel risbane are a better chance moving forward.
But he could just be saying this and wanting the most dollars he can get.
Ponga is class but very hit and miss. Yet get around the same as Teddy and Turbo who are always in the top 3 or 4 players on the field.
I'd put Latrel as a better fullback with Papanhauzen closing in.

With Dunster ruled out for the whole season before it even starts are we able to replace his spot in the top 30 or do we go the year with 29?

So from what I see we have 2 spots available and 3 if we are able to replace Dunster. I imagine like the NFL you should be able to remove a guy from squad if out for a large period and put on injured reserves. But it means they would be available untill that period is over. I feel that's a fair way to do it.
The player has to go on a 12 weeks out or the season and then can be replaced.

I believe how it works in NRL is the player stays against the cap and any insurance payout is credited back to the cap. Then if can’t adequately field a team due to unavailable players, the NRL give more leeway to name players outside of 30 man squad.
The second part of the rule is if you’re the Roosters you can immediately replace the injured player with another rep player and receive an apology from the NRL.

So then another player would be eligible for a development contract if Rodwell is in the top 30

Didnt he get re signed out to 2024 recently?

Yes. But 2022 is a train and trial. 23 and 24 is top 30. That is why I feel the coaching staff feel he will play NRL but they need to get him fit first and is behind pecking order of others.
Plus we do lose Marata,Kafusi,Stone,Papali'i and maybe Matterson. Ogden may of been signed only to take Greig or Hollis spot while the club feel those guys may take Stones and Kafusi.

I think rugby leagues very different these days.
I feel clubs have a system in many positions and less reliant on individual brilliance like in past times.

Guys in the spine and centres will always need skill to succeed and individual brilliance. Wingers will need to fit a criteria also where they can read plays, catch a bomb etc.

Forwards to me are much easier to develop. Yes you will get better ones but in general they can find guys to fill two spots on the bench and 6 back ups just based on size and athletic ability along with desire. Their contribution isn't going to be make or break as far as a premiership goes.

Look at Kafusi. He may average 15 games and 30 mins. Hollis or Greig can do his job. They may not be as effective or they may be more effective but its not a big enough difference to make the side a whole lot better. They just aren't game changers.

MON has got some work to do filling those shoes. So far Ogden, Emu and Hollis, Rodwell and Cartwright is pretty average.
