I don't think Josh will come back my younger brother played with Josh's younger brother years ago.

And from what i heard parra didn't really give Josh the time or day coming through the junior reps so i doubt he would come back here.
The Bulldogs didn’t give Mahoney the time of day but it didn’t stop him from joining them.

Did you fall on your head as a baby?
Did you take what I said personally?

I reckon we go for Franklin Pele that kids a freak. He's got great footwork for such a big bloke and only young. BA would get the best out of him.

With the right coaching, mentoring and fitness regime this kid could be anything. I just looked up his contract status and he is available by the look of it. I saw him play in the trials and was very, very impressed. I think he could be even better then the one we lost to the Tigers who seems a little one dimensional and pass happy at the moment. Pele seems more agile and a better stepper.

These are the sorts of kids we should be after and in this kids case we should be doing it now before he starts to make a major name for himself in the top grade. We are a better team then the Sharks and therefore we should be a better prospect from that perspective.

Imagine having two massive palooka's like him and Wiremu Greig coming on after our current two starting palooka's have just come off. Now that would be one hell of a front row rotation. Also remember that our two front row starters will be in their aging years in the next two seasons or so, so there is definitely no guarantee as to how powerful and awesome they will be. We need to be making plans now for their succession and having two young bulls that are still very raw in the squad that can learn and be mentored by them would be the perfect plan for our future.

Also look at JWH yesterday. He didn't so much as make a dent out there. He was showing signs of decline last season and I know it is way to soon to make a real and complete assessment on him just yet, but after watching him last season have a very unlike season for him and only a handful of games were of real quality and the way he started yesterday, I think his best is way behind him. He is being started from the bench, in my opinion, for a reason. Love it by the way. Without his aggression up front and Radley's injury prone and proclivity for suspension, I think the Roosters could have problems.

But anyway, back to Parra. We could really win the lottery if we were smart enough and lucky enough to prise Pele from the Sharks. I think he is going to be a real game breaking style of weapon in the years to come.

Never surprised when I hear stuff like that. This goes back all the way to our golden era too, when Brett Kenny was nearly ignored by our scouts and if it wasn't for an an official that knew him and was part of the juniors system who was driving by and saw Kenny on his own kicking a all ball around at a school yard when the junior games were on and stopped to ask him why he wasn't at the games? Then Kenny telling him that they didn't want him. The bloke(can't remember his name) said what? Get in and drove him to the games and insisted that they play him. The rest as they say is history.

But we have been sh*t at talent recognition forever. So many great players have gone and made their name somewhere else.

I thought the talk was, the Rooster gave him a massive deal for a junior to sign with them

Yeah that would be what I would say whenever I lost a promising junior too when they end up being quality.

We can't keep them all is the other good one I could keep bringing up from the well too.

I'm excited about Hodgson joining us - he is a high quality player.

I do have serious concerns about his fitness, though - another knee injury for the poor bugger already...

Didn't think I needed to point out the bleeding obvious again, but it is you so...some players carry way more risk then others.

Does Anthony Watmough ring a bell? Oh that's right you loved his contribution too.

Pou the poster that loves to die on multiple hills. The game of RL is concerned it is running out of swampy hills for him to drown on.
I read somewhere yesterday that BA only bought Watmough to the club so it would entice Foran to join. Looks like the plan worked.

That is what we are talking about here not his ability with the ball or his steal the ball abilities.

He is on the wrong side of 30 and a broken warrior, which is obvious to everyone bar a few, that he is on his way out. Unfortunately some of those few are decision makers at the club.

Experience he brings. Unsure about what else nowdays. And he apparently try cost around 400k. It is hardly peanuts.
At 250k I would of went yeah ok worth a punt. At 400k if he folds its a big chunk out of cap.

Does Watmough ring a bell? The bloke who played 20+ games every year for nine straight seasons before coming to us? The fact is when you need to buy experience you're unlikely to get it in a younger player.

So where would Curran play in our 2022 squad? Which middle would he push out of our top 17?

He is on the wrong side of 30
History shows that players 'on the wrong side of 30' are almost essential to premiership success. I checked every year back to 2010 and the only premiers that didn't have a single 30 year old were last year's Panthers, meaning they are not the blueprint, they are the outlier. In fact the only other premiership team since 2010 without multiple players 'on the wrong side of 30' were the 2014 Bunnies, who only had one (36 year old Tuqiri).

I know you love big fat forwards and fast backs but rugby league is also a game where decisions need to be made under pressure. The players who are the best at this are the ones who've had the most practice.
