Experience he brings. Unsure about what else nowdays. And he apparently try cost around 400k. It is hardly peanuts.
At 250k I would of went yeah ok worth a punt. At 400k if he folds its a big chunk out of cap.
If he plays 20+ games, like he did last year, he is worth $600k. $400k represents a reasonable level of risk. Plus he offers value off the field.

Gee and I though our Admin at that time was gash. Maybe we should have kept them Poo?
Talking about the Roosters. They also managed to get rid of Jackson Hastings when he turned out to be a dud, after paying huge money to poach him from the Dragons. Every speculative recruitment decision seems to be zero risk for that club.

Does Watmough ring a bell? The bloke who played 20+ games every year for nine straight seasons before coming to us? The fact is when you need to buy experience you're unlikely to get it in a younger player.

Our spine inn 2023 will have heaps of experience. Would be one of the most experienced without old man Hodgo and so will our starting front row. It would be been wiser to blood a hooker so he develops some experience. We do not need more

History shows that players 'on the wrong side of 30' are almost essential to premiership success. I checked every year back to 2010 and the only premiers that didn't have a single 30 year old were last year's Panthers, meaning they are not the blueprint, they are the outlier. In fact the only other premiership team since 2010 without multiple players 'on the wrong side of 30' were the 2014 Bunnies, who only had one (36 year old Tuqiri).

I know you love big fat forwards and fast backs but rugby league is also a game where decisions need to be made under pressure. The players who are the best at this are the ones who've had the most practice.

The best in the game making decisions right now is a 23yld. Goes by the name Nathan Cleary. It's in his DNA.
A 30 yld Norman or Sandow where nerving going to make good decisions. Not in their DNA.

If he plays 20+ games at what level? Guys get old and are has been. Like Mannah or Cayless. Even Hindmarsh p.oddi g along in his final few seasons was depressing to watch.

It might be experienced by then but it just isn't that smart. Moses and Gutherson might execute well but they aren't good decision makers. Drown definitely isn't a smart player.

I hope you are right. The problem is I nearly always am. My talent spotting is highest quality. And I also see decline in players.
I put my balls on line and said Lane is going to be great this season. Let's just see.

I don't think so. He's another player who executes well, and the quality of his team means he is rarely under pressure. They dominate possession.

Kicked game winnign fields goals since he was a kid mate to win or ice games. Not pressure? Slotting g conversions from sidelines to win games. Not pressure? Penrith have been dominant for 2yrs. Nathan's had ice in his veins since day one.

No amount of experience will change Moses going to water in big moments. Just like his penalty goal miss from infront against Souths in the Semi final.

These are all examples of execution under pressure, not decision making.

Jack Bird and Matterson are about the same age. The club is obviously choosing one over the other. Who would you pick? I’d say both are worth about $500k.
