surely if we made this happen, he replaces Gutho who we just re-signed for 3 years,

I think we will prioritize an edge player first, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him at the Eels, just can't see it logistically happening

Yes I know and said as much in my original post. I have come to the conclusion that as good as he is, we will not be winning a premiership with Gutho as our fullback.

We need real speed and strike in our fullback to take advantage of all that go forward from our power pack and playmakers.

Panthers have a young gun fullback coming thru. Turuva I think his name is. We should scope him out.

Everyone knows which juniors are the best. Signing/retaining them without blowing your budget is the hard part.

No I don't think this is true. Clubs take risks on who they thinks the best.
They make mistakes also on guys who are overhyped and fluff to nothing.

I reckon freak talents are easy to hit on but guys like say Ash Taylor ,Seizer where hot property. All fluffs.

It's about indetifying who will make it and who will not.

Tigers could of kept JAC and Papemhuzen for relatively cheap and in the system. They where unable to independently identify the talent.

Very good player that needs more development to bring out the best in him. But can hit the line very well and can pass.
Considering that desperado teams have picked they eyes out of our pack and so far all we have is a 33 year old hooker with a bung leg, I think we need to focus our cap towards forward recruitment.

How could they keep them cheap when the Storm wanted them? More to the point, why would the Storm want them if they weren't massively talented?

He's as much a middle forward as anything else. Nikora is pretty much a pure edge forward.

I'd like my middle forward to be more physical then what he is at the moment. There is also the issue of him losing form last year. He was great the year before, but since then has not played as well or as dominant. But then again that is probably why we are looking at him and why he would be affordable and we would be hoping to get the best out of him like we have done with some other forwards.

Like I said, I would rather save the money and go all out for a superstar like Joseph Suaalii. We have enough forwards of Nikora's standard and I am sure we can easily replace them even from within the clubs current junior stocks. But we have nothing like a Suaalii and not many clubs do. He is available now. We have the salary cap space if we don't sign a couple coming off contract to have a real hot crack at him and he is a player that can attract TPA's if we have a little nous. Yeah I know @Poupou Escobar, @Gronk and others, that clubs aren't meant to get involved. Sure and the big dick fairy is coming to wave her magic wand to add a couple more inches too to those little peckers of yours. Clubs are allowed to do "introductions" though, so we should start making some for a player like him.

The point is we should be thinking big. Part of why I fell in love with this club all those years ago was because we were the Roosters of the 70's and under Terry Fearnley for example we signed Cronin who no other club could bring to Sydney with dogged persistence and Pricey the best Union player of his generation and Wynn who was with his brother the best two country backrowers in the country at the time. We also brought the best playmaker the game had ever seen till then in Sterlo as a kid to our club. We even signed an aging immortal in Beetson who if things had gone a little differently and luck was on our side could have been in our maiden premiership team like the Bear was. We shot for the stars and hit every now and then and wouldn't you know it with the blending of local juniors it actually worked and we got 7 GF appearances, 8 if you include the replay one and 4 premierships out of it not to mention all the thrilling finals campaigns that we were part of and if a certain referee hadn't rorted us we may even have had more GF's to our name.

We need someone that thinks like Fearnley did all those years ago and not just the bargain bin trawler types we currently have at the moment. I understand it is the age of the salary cap, but like I said we used to think and act like the Roosters. It is a fine art getting it right, I think we are close we just need to add the missing ingredient of pure superstar class to the end of this backline now and hope we can find a suitable replacement for Mahoney. I think most already know that Hodgson isn't going to be the answer.

Thanks scoop. The Roosters are at a premium at the moment with stars and Suaalii is available if we are willing to go to the $1m mark. I don't think that they could match us at that price and like I said earlier we have a few things that make us a very desirable destination.

He is odds on to be the next major superstar and probably better then Pongia, but if it were to ever happen it would need to happen now, like this year we need to start the ball rolling for him to come for next year. I fear after this year he will be to entrenched into their NRL team and comfortable and set to want to change clubs. It is much easier to get elite juniors out of a club then established ones. The time is now. We need to do a Rooster on the Roosters like when they swooped in and signed JWH just as he was ready to bloom from the Sea Eagles all those years ago. He helped them win multiple premierships as a reward. We need to do the same and with a little luck have similar results.
